OK mate here's one that came to light this afternoon and one which I hadn't thought of reproducing. I normally stop a movie/TV show prior to the file completing playback, however I was watching a movie this afternoon and let it play through to the end. On completion the file stopped as expected, but rather than return to the MP Movie/TV Show detail screen, MPC popped-up on top and remained there. The only way to exit and return to MP was via mouse or TV button on remote. This behaviour is exhibted both in movies and TV Shows (I tried both - with various files).

I have MP Always on top - checked in MP Config, but this behaviour continues.

Have to agree that in the main the whole process is working sweetly, with one or two minor adjustments this is a killer tip

He! He! if I knew what a 'flash Parameter' was I would possibly agree with you.

I was gonna test this tonight lol, anyway its easy to fix go into "mediaportal configuration" goto Videos > Video players > inside the External players box there is an option called parameters, copy this into it:

    Code:
    %filename% /CLOSE

That will close the media player and return to MP when the film stops playing.

I'll look over your post u made this afternoon & respond after tea. I'm going out at 8pm but i'll try cobble something together before i go out.

Just off to the local winelodge for a few glasses :p

Anyway, just installed mplayerc_homecinema_x86_v1.2.908.0. I must say its alot better than bog standard MPC.

I have enabled auto resume - View > options > Miscellanous > Ticked "remember DVD position" and "remember file position" and it seems inside MediaPortal it remembers where I last stopped playback & then resumes from its last position.

Was that a problem u had? No auto resume support?

    Nice one - enjoy.

Unfortunately in MPC-HC the option to remember DVD and file position are greyed out on my system - cannot access them - any ideas?

only thing I can suggest is downloading the same version as me, completely deleting the old one & replacing with this new one & setting it all up again.

Not ideal, but only thing I can think off, mine are tickable on my fresh install. Make sure you copy all the dll files, absolutley everything in the .zip file it comes in.

oh yeh, in your earlier post you mentioned tearing when u launched MPC-HC. Mine doesn't tear but does show the little MPC-Hc box before it goes fullscreen. kmplayer however autostarts in fullscreen mode, which is alot neater. Having said that I think MPC-HC is better for avi & divx as it has auto-resume working, which is handy when I stop my tv shows before I goto bed. Now with one click I am watching where I left off in the morning!!

I prefer kmplayer for DVD playback, mainly because it has a nifty aspect ratio changer button & has text come up to show u what chapter, % through film you are etc etc. MPC-HC doesn't seem to have any text to tell me how far along in time I have ff, so its very difficult finding where I am in the film. Can this be turned on? Any ideas?

EDIT: FYI I mapped the subtitle button to the blue button on the mce remote!!!!

Think I might have found the solution to the MPC problem - I am running in EVR mode, just checked on the MPC website and there should be no intermediate filters between MPC and the video renderer - I have ffdshow installed from previous use, will uninstall and see what happens. Though will have to download AC3 filter - was using ffdshow for audio playback.

Will have a check on the MPC OSD settings for chapter numbering, time left etc, but I don't think it can do it. Agree about the MPC-HC box, that's what I meant, that and a little screen flicker on start-up - not a problem, would just have been nice to have seemless integration.

Thanks for the info on subtitle button.

I will experiment some more and let you know how I get on - enjoy your evening.

Below is what is shown in MPC Config and the boxes beneath that are 'greyed' out with the exception of 'show OSD'. This is the OSD I get during playback (top left hand corner) when I FF or move through the chapters where they exist. Only remains visible for a few secoonds, but gives "time stamp skipped to" and "Time Remaining" - something you might be intereseted in?

    Miscellaneous
    Video
    Direct3D Fullscreen: moved to 'output'

I am sure there is a setting or something that I'm missing, just can't find it. Oh well tomorrow is another day.

thanks for looking but nothing comes up on mine. It doesn't matter though as auto resume compensates nicely.

Going to use kmplayer for DVD playback and MPC-HC for divx.
