Can understand your pain Oxy - I'm having major stability issues this evening with MP - not launching MPC-HC on play, hanging on Movie details screen, requiring ctrl-alt-delete to end process - its driving me barmy. Going to try a complete reinstall see if that helps.

Not able to change the state of the HID service

Greetings from the other side of the Atlantic!!

I just got my MCE remote today and was following along in your guide. Impressive!!

I have been a long time MPC user and just built a new HTPC with Vista and was pleasantly surprise to see the MediaPortal has improved greatly in the last few years. So I'm making the switch to MP Streamer, but still in transition from MPC.

My MCE remote works fine with MP. BTW - why do you need to use MPC from MP?

With MPC-HT I can not get the MCE to work. When I open mp_mpc_v1.xml in EventGhost (0.3.6.1487) I get: "The plugin was not able to change the state of the HID service. You must be logged in as Administrator to change the state." and a whole lot of red errors on the left side of EventGhost. My OS is Vista Ultimate 64.

When I try the MCE remote with MPC a few things work (like stop) but not much.

Thanks a million for any help you can provide.

im running the same OS as you, I disabled UAC ages ago, so thats should solve the admin issues with you.

When you get the meesage about the HID device, just finish off following the guide in pg 1, reboot and all should be working!

As for why I use MPC-HC/kmplayer, they just offer superior pic quality over the inbuilt MP :D There are issues where the inbuilt player doesnt display the correct aspect ratio & makes the picture brighter than it should be. MPC/kmplayer do not have these issues.

EDIT: Alot of the errors come from kmplayer plugin, which i forgot to delete in the MPC only version lol, will fix it and release a v2 script when i get home from work!

Anything else I can help with, then post back!!

EDIT: FYI I mapped the subtitle button to the blue button on the mce remote!!!!

Oxy - I tried this earlier today and coudn't get any response from the 'blue key'. Was this instruction valid when we were using EventGhost MediaPortal plug-in, which you subsequntly abandonded (rightly so) in favour of the MCE Remote - does this require a further 'tweak' to the MCE remote mapping to allow the blue button to operate subtitle switch on/off.

Nice to hear others are at last recognising your good work - welcome shindigo.

Well uploaded mp_mpc_v2.xml which has had all the crap that wasn't needed removed. Now runs without warning messages.

BLUE MCE button bound to subtitles for avi files, for DVD access subtitles via DVD root menu.

Remeber in MPC for subtitles to work you need to run the player in VMR7/9 mode. To change to it View-->Options-->Output(Under playback) in MPC.

Something broken in the revised script - MP starts as normal from 'green button', but after that nothing. None of the remote keys work. Reverted back to v1 just in case there was something wrong here, but v1 worked perfectly - back to v2 and nothing after start-up.

    Any ideas?
