Definitely AVForums - don't know about xbmc - tried it recently but suffered from playback issues - might try again you never know - the search goes on for a movie frontend. They all seem to have individual areas of interest, but nothing combined, if you know what I mean?

Sounded nice, installed it and imported the XML for the MPC and Mediaportal plugin and for use remote MCE

But strangely all the controles dont work in Mediaportal.

Uninstalled the software, and it doesnt work anymore.. strange.. , just dont work.

I see what happend, all events of my remote are deleted.. nice goin :)

Tryed to fill up the events again, but still dont work, any ideas?

    Hi BuUrMaN

I didn't write the instructions - that's way out of my league - Oxy's the man for that, however I had a similar problem - see post #49 for detals but basically I found that EventGhost took control of my Harmony One remote (running with an MCE receiver) - seemed to overwrite all its functionality and I had to abandon MP (albeit temporarily) - my HTPC set-up just wasn't functional without access to the Harmony. I revisited the forums and found the following thread: https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/...rs-55/how-set-up-mpc-hc-work-mp-remote-53147/ which solved my problem.

    To return to your post
Uninstalled the software, and it doesnt work anymore.. strange.. , just dont work.

I see what happend, all events of my remote are deleted.. nice goin :)

Prior to unistalling the EventGhost software I had to uncheck the HID box, right click the MCE plug-in in EventGhost and open up the properties, uncheck the HID box and save (I don't have the software installed, so I'm quoting from memory). This should return all controls back to your MCE remote. If you have also enabled MPtray, remember and uninstall to allow use of MCE, if required (ProgramFiles/Team MediaPortal/MediaPortal/mptray_uninstall.bat). If you are going to continue use of MP, this step isn't necessary.

I have returned to the MP fold, as a result of the thread quoted previously amd found it to be a more user friendly way to set-up MPC-HC use by remote. This will only work I think if you use MPC (either classic or -HC), don't know if the other applications have the option to 'map' keystrokes as MPC does.

    Hope this helps.

    Hi,

I'm new, trying to set up Media portal to use as a replacement for Media Center..

I followed your directions but now the remote doesn't work at all. The Green button launches Media portal but nothing else works, can't navigate and other buttons don't seem to do anything.

I deleted the registry key and uninstalled eventghost and still its not working..

Edit: Found the fix after reading through the thread quickly...

Idid seem to have this problem after doing all of the instructions though, the remote didn't seem to work with anything anymore. I could open MP with green button but then go nowhere..
I believe I followed all the instructions properly!

    Thanks
    David

    Hi!

Maybe you can try the attached script for Vista! The Script can stop or start all MC-related services! Here the Link to the Description: Link

    Ahh German?
I just run it as admin i'm guessing and it'l turn all MC services off.. then if I run it again they're on? That simple?

This doesn't totally disable the remote does it?

Ah creates two files one to start and one to stop..
Is there more information? As I can't read German, sadly!

Yes, its german! But you are right. Running the scipt as admin turns all MCE-services on or off! But i have never tried it for myself!

Id like to add that I stumbled accross this last week, installed everything and at last KMPlayer now responds to my remote - great bit of work.
The only bugbear is that I have lost the ability to control my volume when back in MP, everything else still works via the remote, but I get no response trying to do anything to the volume via the remote.
Im presuming that it is something to do with Ghostview and the keymapping, but I really dont know where to go to trouble shoot this..
    Any pointers please?
