How-To use Comskip to cut out commercials via MediaPortal (1 Viewer)

I saw this thread at work and ran home to implement it. I must say, while comskip is an incredible program, the lead off tutorial is what really got me. Short, simple and works the first time!
Thank you very much Ralph. I have used your tips with much success in the past.
And thank you Erik for your wonderful comskip program. Thanks to you guys, I no longer have to clip commercials with VirtualDub.

I have checked output of 3 shows and all seem to have a few seconds of extra commercials, but no actual content was lost. And this is "straight out of the box". I will hold the original settings and run another 20 shows thru it.

I am doing some fine tuning to remove those extra seconds.
If someone is willing to send me certain data generated by comskip for a show where they see these extra seconds that would help me.

I am having a little issue with comskip and wondering if you guys could help me. The problem is after I run the show through and then watch it, it seems to cutting commercials... but in the wrong place. It seems to be cutting off the show... I would say about 4 or 5 seconds before the commercial. People will be in mid sentence and then it will cut. Then it will play about 15 or so seconds of the ending commercial before the show starts again. I think I am going to download the files again and run through the guide. The only thing I have changed is the padding=2... instead of 0. Any thoughts to why this would be happening?

There are MANY reasons why this may happen.
One very difficult reason is that the timeline of the MPEG is corrupt.
Comskip defines the cutpoints on frame bases.
Many players translate the frame numbers to time and then use the timeline of the mpeg to find the cutpoint.
If the timeline is currupt, meaning the PTS timeline is broken, this will fail.
You can use comskip to check if the cutpoints are at the right point in mpeg by starting comskip with the full path to the generated txt file as its single parameter. Comskip will open a mpeg preview window with the mpeg file shown.
Now you can review the cutpoints to see if there they are indeed correct.

Otherwise please follow the procedure noted in my previous post, only by providing the right info it is possible to solve the more difficult problems.

Hi Erik,

with the dvr version downloaded from above i get the following in the log and then comskip crashes, with the window poping up, if i want to send the information to Microsoft.
if you need the appcompat file uploaded/mailed to somewhere let me know.
