HTPCInfo plugin for MediaPortal v0.7.0

Dear community,
after long nights and many cups of coffee the new version 0.7.0 of HTPCInfo is ready for downloading.
This release contains a lot of major improvements, new functions and skin changes, so please read the attached manual carefully.

More informations for users:
  • This version requires changed skin files, so please download the latest version or updates of your favourite skin. Actually StreamedMP, Monochrome, X-Factor, the whole PureVision family and BlackGlass skins supports this new version. I hope, that other skinners make changes to other skins also in the next time.
  • HTPCInfo is now able to monitor TV Server and TV Client activities, but you need different configurations. Please read the chapter "Server-Side Installation" and "Client-Side Installation" for working solutions.
  • The gauges and progress bar images can be changed by editing the included example files. If you have another good images or interesting layouts, please post this here - these files are part of a HTPCInfo customization pack, which I want to publish later.

More informations for skinners:
  • Because of functionality changes regarding TV card devices, some old properties (TVCardType, TVCardName, TVCardDevice, TVCardIsEnabled, TVCardIsTimeShifting, TVCardIsRecording, TVCardIsScanning, TVCardIsGrabbingEPG, TVCardIsScrambled, TVCardSignalQuality, TVCardSignalLevel, TVCardTunerIsLocked, TVCardTunerIsLockedBy) are obsolete now and will be replaced by standardized properties (see chapter Version History). These old properties will be supported only until the next major release.
  • HTPCInfo now works with sections. These sections can be used inside skin files (ID 50 for overview screen, ID 51 for details screen, ID 52 for gauges screen type “Gauge”, ID 53 for gauges screen type “Progress Bar”)

Thanks:
  • I want to say thx to joz, catavolt, Tgx and cul8er for your hard work, for skin support of HTPCInfo and beta testing.
  • A BIG thx goes to joz for many great ideas and his help, to learn a little bit more about the way of thinking of MediaPortal skinners.
  • Thx to all users, who use this plugin and make it better in the last 2 month.

Conclusively I would like invite you all to post ideas and suggestions for the next release.

Cheers and thx, Micropolis ;-)

I get a very strange view of the plugin. I´m using Black Glass 1.4 Skin. The screen is flickerung too. Screenshoot attached...
    What can I do?

That's because the skin already supports version 0.7.0 of the plugin!
Upgrade the plugin and it should be fine!

    Bye

I have updated my streamed MP and monochrome variants. New feature for streamedMP -> a different backdrop for each section, see screens.

I keep coming up with stuff to add :) Sorry for that Micropolis but :D again for the great job so far.
Ok what I thought of now that would be nice; XAP support!
I already have XAP support in My Speedfan plugin but as always having these sorta thing grouped together in one plugin is nice to have.
With XAP you can monitor system temperatures etc on clients connected to the network. So I can monitor my server from my client but I can also monitor my client from the server.

Oh right one more little thing, it would be nice to somehow know from skin which drives are to be monitored and if a control is in the skin but no monitoring for that drive is defined I can somehow turn it off. I already tried a bit but no luck so far, I think I can manage though with some dummy controls and Control.HasText.
And on that same point (this could be just specific to me however, since I use an nLited XP) it would be nice to monitor network share drive space as well. That already works for me but I need to access the network drive from explorer first on the current window session, after that it's also visible for HTPCInfo. I use an nLited XP so it might actually be the cause, I remember I have set an nLite option not to reconnect to those shares on windows start (which is default win behaviour) but upon first access.

    HTPCInfo plugin for MediaPortal v0.7.0

    Hi Joz,
    thx for your suggestions.
As I understood your post, 2 parts "must" be included in the next version:

    • Part 1: Monitoring of shared network drives (e.g. "\\mediaportal\system") - this functionality is implemented for up to 3 shares and works on my test machine ;-)
    • Part 2: Support for xAP-Protocol to collect sensor informations from other machines inside your network - nothing is impossible, in the next days I'll try to find a way to support this functionality

Please be aware, that actually I must find a way to support needed functionalities and to develop a plugin, which cannot allocate all CPU/Memory resources. This is a small way, but in my opinion it is possible and usable for HTPCs with appropriate facilities. If a user does not want to use some functionalities, it is helpful and recommended to switch off this in the configuration dialog.

    Cheers, Micropolis ;-)
