Well, I have the board. And will not recommend it. I live in Europe. But the on-board graphics does not support PAL. Even tho the user manual says it does. Contacted AOpen, and they confirm.
BIOS does not allow to run CPU fan temperature controlled and PSU fan temperature controlled in parallel, if you set CPU fan to automatic in BIOS, PSU fan runs at 100%. So you need a fanless PSU.
Worst of all - on the board I have, the PCIe1x slot is incorrectly alligned. And blocked by a connector. So it cannot be used. This is an error acknowledged by AOpen, and possibly corrected on the latest batch. But check if you buy one.
But my conclusion: Stay away.

I would have to know more details, and ultimately, I'll have to test it when I get my new display, but an AI answer I got (I don't trust AI and this may not be correct) was that HDR is encoded with the HEVC codec and I know MePo uses the HEVC codec to play 4K UHD Blue-ray discs. So, there is at least the possibility that it will work...

The reason I was thinking I needed more RAM is that TV now seems to be HiDef and so the files have grown. I edit the files before storing them, to reduce some size. It is finding that slower, I think. Or it could just be because I'm expecting more? The Baseboard manufacturer says ASUSTech Computer Inc; Baseboard product P7P55D-E...

Last weekend, I uninstalled the entire mediaportal, the TV server, the Windows patches, and anything else that might be interfering. I made a backup of the plugin databases so I could restore them after the installation. Now everything works. I'm not exactly sure what was causing the problem, but now all the videos play perfectly again.
