MP is working to some degree with the Vbox-DTA 150. I can get 1 or 2 channel changes before it hangs. When it's working though, the PQ is great.

Forgive me if this post is too noobtastic. I'm only just starting my research into an HTPC. I'm sure MP is the way to go (I love my XBMC, and as I understand it, MP was born of that).

So.. I just read this thread. And I'm confused....

If I look at the supported cards list, It shows the "Dvico FusionHDTV5 Gold Lite" as having full support ie... the columns are YES YES YES. There is no caveat if one follows the link on the card name.

But given the title & nature of this thread, and it's relative freshness. I'd have expected to see some posts along the lines of 'hey we just finished adding support for the FusionHDTV cards and it works smachingly well, Tell us what you think....' Etc....

So what gives. Is the FusionHDTV Gold / Lite the sensible choice for USA Terrstrial Broadcasts??

MP has a few issues with ATSC at the moment. Reception works great, but changing the channels will cause MP to hang. The more people that can test this and get error logs, the faster the devs will have enough info to get the issue(s) solved. I'm still using SageTV 4 for recording and watching ATSC TV. I use MP for everything else.

The Fusions have QAM support, but it's reallly hit or miss as to what you can get from your cable company in unencrypted format...and you can only decode unencrypted signals with QAM cards at the moment.

Personally, I reccomend Vbox cards for OTA ATSC.

I wish I could get past autotune to help out. MP finds no channels for my A180. Kinda hard to go any further.

OK. I can confirm this as of right now. I'm using a CVS from 1/30/06.

Using my Vbox DTA 150 I can view and change channels if I turn EPG grabbing and timeshifting off. Works like a charm.

If I turn time shifting on, I get really slow channel changes, and the system will hang. When it does play, audio gets way out of sync.

So try to turn off time shifting and EPG grabbing.

Mad Chemist: I bet you have a moniker issue. Get Graphedit, add the avermedia filters, take a screen cap and post it here or PM me. I will see if your capturecarddefinitions.xml file needs to be updated. I'm betting it does.

    Is this what you need?

Yes. I also need your device ID. Findthe A180 in the device manager. I used my NIC card as an example because this computer doesn't have a capture card. I need that whole string:

You can just copy and paste it in here, if you want.

    ATSC TESTERS UNITE!

EVERYONE WITH ATSC CARDS: If you can get your card to autotune, disable EPG grabbing and Timeshifting. It might work better then for just plaine watching TV. I use a VBox DTA-150 and I can view ATSC channels. I just can't timeshift or record them yet. If you haven't already figure dit out, ATSC support for MP is very problematic due to the lack of developers and testers. It's a North American Standard and roughly 7/8 of the MP user base is located elsewhere.

So the best thing you can do is try what I have said with your ATSC cards. Or, If you can't even get them to autotune, PM me, post here, or find me on IRC (commy64 or c64|work). If your card has good BDA drivers (Like Vbox), We should be able to get you viewing TV at least.

From that point, we can try to verify and duplicate errors and issues with ATSC and get them into the Mantis bugtracking system. I'll be your liason for that part...Help me test ATSC cards, and I will communicate issues with the Devs and we will see if we can't get it sorted out. Part of the problem is keeping track of all the issues and problems and there are hundreds of posts everyday. As of right now, I'm the ATSC testing guy. I can't program, but I can test. I've only got a Vbox card. You've all got other cards. You test, you have issues, you communicate them to me, and I will take that info straight to the Devs. Please post your issues in the forums, as well, but realize that I and other devs may miss your post or thread due to our work schedules and real life issues such as potty training our 2-yeard old daughters.

Again, Everyone who is able to autotune an ATSC card, disable EPG grabbing and time shifting. Try to view from there. Let me know about your problems. If you crash, hang, or have issues, zip your entire C:programFiles\Team Media Portal Media Portal\log folder and send it to com64vic28@yahoo.com and include a description of your issue.

Anyone else who is reading this and is considering buying an ATSC card for MediaPortal: go to www.pcalchemy.com They have Vbox cards. I know the Vbox DTA-150 works for viewing TV. Hopefully we'll get recording and timeshifting sorted out soon.

    1st bug to duplicate

OK. Can someone please verify this ATSC bug for me?

With Timeshifting and EPG on: Channel changes are very slow, and will hang MP after one or 2 changes. Audio also becomes progressively out of sync.

    Commodore 64,

Here is the ID for my A180:

    ven_1131&dev_7133&subsys_10441461&rev_d1

Bad news, It's already in the capturecarddefinitions.xml file correctly. This is with the 1/31 CVS build. This might not bode well for A180 owners. Can you try to autotune and send me the logfile? Make sure your antenna is set to US as well.

ATM I have no tuner card.

I'll likely get the Fusion HDTV5 because of BTV4 & Meedio. But when I do I'll be sure to help out in whatever fashion I can. As I'm sure that MP will be so very worth it.
