ixian, that is the version I am using.
I'm not on the latest SVN though, I'm on build of the 25th as per WileE's suggestion (faster channel changing if I remember correctly)
Are you able to reproduce my issue on your pc?

Sorry when I wrote "latest SVN" I was actually talking about the 25th build, which is the last time I checked it out of the repository.

Channel changing, thankfully, is one of the problems I am not having. Can you post your logs?

In the SVN build from 28th there is a bug in TsReader which prevents channel change if the PMT doesn't change. This happens for all analog cards and the HDPVR as they always have the same PMT. But you can't use the TsReader from the 25th SVN builld as it isn't compatible.

Currently I'm checking, if it is really needed for the HDPVR to get the PMT. Probably it is enough to store it in the code and than forward it to our TsWriter. This will save some seconds on startup.

Can someone explain how zoom levels work in the TV Plugin?

I think I figured out the issue I was having with EVR - when I unchecked ALL the "allowed zoom levels" except "Normal" in the TV plugin configuration, I could get EVR to work for me - it's still a little choppy, but the picture looks great and I think the choppness is a performance issue; I'm going to make some changes this weekend such as putting a second drive in my TV Server PC and using that for the timeshift/recording drive, etc.

The real problem is the "issue" with EVR keeps coming back. What happens is, I get video and audio, but the video looks extremely zoomed in - like it's zoomed in 50x or something so all I see is a blown up, pixellated corner of the actual picture. That's what lead me to try un-checked zoom levels in the first place. After I did that, I got great picture....until I rebooted. Now the problem is back and playing with allowed zoom levels isn't helping - only disabling EVR and going back to VMR9 does, and I get a crappy picture with that.

What are the hotkeys to cycle through zoom levels in MP? I checked around but couldn't find anything - I was thinking if I knew how to change zoom levels from within MP while it's playing I could find out if they are having the effect on the video I'm seeing.

    Anyone else see this ever?

For a short howto of how to setup the HD-PVR with a clearQAM card see here. I'm just hoping it can help out someone in the future and avoid the headache I had. Thanks guys!

Anyone able to get a smooth capture on 1080i in media portal? Arcsoft can't capture 1080i for crap, but MP does ok. For movies it seems to be OK for the most part, but for a sporting event, it looks like it is dropping a few frames. I ran perfmon while watching a 1080i stream, and my CPU (AMD 4850e) never went above about 70% usage. I've tried CoreAVC and DivX h.264 decoders. Haven't really noticed a difference with either codec.

720p is nice and smooth, but I'd like to get 1080i to be the same if possible.

I'm rapidly approaching the conclusion that, in spite of the great efforts put forth here, the HD-PVR is a device that is flat out not ready for prime time. The hardware itself is beset with issues and getting it to work with Media Portal - or for that matter, GBPVR, Sage, and BeyondTV - is a matter of extreme patience, constant fiddling, and above all, luck.

I haven't thrown in the towel yet but this is getting close to being more of a hassle than it's worth for me, and I have a pretty high threshold for "early adopter" devices.

This sounds like a playback issure more than a HD-PVR issue. Have you tried using the Arcsoft Video Decoder in MP?

    MisterD,
I installed the latest SVN last night, and it worked almost perfect.

    - I clean installed Garry's version of MP 1.0
    - I applied the SVN from 3/7/2009
    - Configured the TV Server, Blaster & Schedules direct (to get my channels)
    - Timeshifting and recording worked fine in the TV Server (except for a 10 second delay for the PMT)
    - Configured the MP client
    - Opened the MP client and started timeshifting and it worked great.
    - Tried to change the channel, after 10 seconds it would just seem 'paused' on the previous channel. So on a whim I hit the pause button, then play and it started playing back fine.
    - Tried timeshifting on the 3 clients (which still have Garry's MP 1.0 build) and they start and change channels fine. the pause issue is no where to be found :)

So it appears that maybe the channel changing is a client issue? I will post my logs later on when I get home...

:D again for all who have worked to make the HD-PVR work with MP!
