iPhone interface for MediaPortal (iPiMP) - original thread (now closed) (4 Viewers)

Hi cheezey, thanks for producing such a great plugin! I am however having a problem, in that when I restart my computer the ipimp apache webserver service does not start and so ipimp does not work. If I manually start the service again then it works fine. I am unsure why the service would not be starting. The only thing I can think of is that I have the tv-server installed, but I do not actually use it. Perhaps this means the service is not started when I run mediaportal?

I think I can probably (with a little research, not a computer whiz!) write a batch file to run on startup that will start the service when windows starts up but I thought I'd post a query here first as it doesn't seem to be normal behaviour. Any help would be much appreciated!

Boffinboy - try iPiMP with a different port (change it from the default 80)

Thanks Cheezey, reinstalling and changing the port didn't seem to make a difference. I have set up a batch file to start the service on windows startup which solves the problem - Boffinboy

I like the functionality of ipimp but I don't have Iphone so I am using IRIS browser on my old blue angel and it is slow. My question is how fast do you browse pages from iphone and ipod touch so that I would know if it is worth buying iphone or ipod touch just for this app.

Nothing jumps out in the logs, I'll be installing MediaPortal 1.1.0 BETA soon to test & update iPiMP 4.0.0 so will look at this issue then.

Have a look at the attached video, this is a quick demo of navigating some screens in iPiMP 4.0.0, it gives you an idea of the time to transition between pages. The transitions are jerky in the video but that's down to the screen capturing not iPiMP, it's lovely and smooth on the iPhone.

Thanks a lot for video it is much better even with screen capturing than on my iris browser. So it will be very nice on Iphone, the only thing left is to buy one
Also just a quick pointer on client management. There is no option just to close mp without shuttding down or logging off computer. I think it might be usefull in singleseat installations.
But maybe it is because I am using ipimp 3.4 as i can't install mp 1.0.2 due to tv card compatability.

moesfeld - The transitions are specific to webkit based browsers such as Mobile Safari on the iPhone / iPod Touch, Google Chrome, Web Browser for android, WebOS on Palm pre etc. etc.

Hm...ok, didn´t have the patience to crawl through 18 pages of this thread. Beg your pardon...

Well, all of sudden, my ipimp-server isn´t running smart anymore.
Yesterday evening everything worked fine for me. This morning I´m not able to connect to my MediaPortal client anymore, there is no display of the TV-Guide, I can´t display recordings-list and so on.

I´ve checked conditions twice (IP-adresses, ports and anything, updated client and user databases) and can´t make sense of it.
Do you?
