AW: iPiMP 5.2.0 for MP 1.2.0 Beta

Hi cheezey

First of all: Great work on iPiMP. Only because of the new version i'm bother about to deinstall 4TR and go back to TV-Server :D
But i have some question:

  • Your changelog says "Web - Added an EPG page for desktop browsers - browse EPG and schedule programs". Is there also a streaming page? I want to stream my tv/movies/series to a desktop pc also or does the desktop version only contain the epg page to set recordings? If yes, do you plan to improve the desktop version of iPiMP?
  • To stream live-tv/recordings/movies/series, do i need to have my HTPC running or does iPiMP stream directly from the server?
  • Do you planning to add stream support for music?

    Hi there,

    The channel group issue solved itself - might have been a timing issue? *weird*

    Anyway, I'm also getting the same error/issue as above:

    the requested URL /SmoothStream.isml/SmoothStream.m3u8 was not found on this server (This is using an iPad - native player)

    If I try from a desktop, using the standard iPimp interface on Safari, and chose Flash, I get the following:

    Manifest Not Found: ../../../SmoothStream.isml/Manifest

    Similar error for silverlight:

    Could not open mediafile: /SmoothStream.isml/Manifest requires output to be hosted on a web server running IIS7.0 with SmoothStream.......

    Cheers,

    J. :D

      No, there is no streaming page - but it is in plan to do one.

      All are streamed from the server, however movies/tv series info is accessed via the HTPC (they are HTPC plugins) - so that would have to be on. You can of course use the 'Wake On Lan' and 'Power Options' built into iPiMP to startup/shutdown your HTPC though. ;)

    • Do you planning to add stream support for music?
      Yes

    Just a random note (you probably don't get into problems for it): it looks like you use libfaac for encoding the audio. Given the non-free license of libfaac, distributing the ffmpeg you included with iPiMP is license-technically illegal. Maybe you could switch to using the opensource ffmpeg-native aac encoder?

    You know when I first compiled ffmpeg I made a mental note to do that. Then forgot.....

    I'll see about compiling with ffmpegs aac encoder.

    Thanks cheezey.

    Would be awesome if there is a all-in-one solution to stream media files/live-tv and set recordings on desktop and mobile. And now iPiMP is nearly there :D

    Two bugs still exist.
    If you browse mediaportal client->tvseries:
    A. if no episode image exists, no page is returned (previous iPiMP version would show FUBAR)
    B. episode images are cached, so it you first browse TVShow1->Season1->Ep. 1, then goto TVShow2->Season1->Ep. 1, you'll see the picture from TVShow1.

    These are fixed in the next version.

    For A. if no image exists then a placeholder will now be shown.

    I have the same problem in firefox 4.0.1

    Hi there,

    Many thanks for releasing the new version. :)

    I am testing this using Safari (for the main iPimp interface), and IE9 for the desktop interface.

    Just a couple of things:

    I have just signed into it for the first time (without streaming) and gone into TV Guide. I get a "No Channel Groups Found". In MePo I have "hide All Channel Groups", and I use a specific group for my channels.

    When I try and access the Desktop site from IE9 I get a Runtime error (Server Error in '/' Application):

    Description: An application error occurred on the server. The current custom error settings for this application prevent the details of the application error from being viewed remotely (for security reasons). It could, however, be viewed by browsers running on the local server machine.

    Details: To enable the details of this specific error message to be viewable on remote machines, please create a <customErrors> tag within a "web.config" configuration file located in the root directory of the current web application. This <customErrors> tag should then have its "mode" attribute set to "Off".

    <!-- Web.Config Configuration File -->

    <configuration>
    <system.web>
    <customErrors mode="Off"/>
    </system.web>
    </configuration>

    I have just back into the Desktop site and it works! Weird!!

    Thanks,

    J.

    Just uploaded v5.2.0.821 which contains the following fixes:

    Streaming recordings
    TV Series image bugs
    Remote control mapping file location

    I also found that I had switched of the fubar pages, these will be re-enabled in the next version, as will the installer bug above.
