No changes. Is vista 32bit causing this problem?

At least there is progress...
I have attached another test version.... I think that the problem may be with Vista.... Do you have UAC disabled??

I'm sorry.... I can't understand what you are trying to say.

    Hi cybrmage,

I tried your new DLL. Things are working a little better now. I can move the mouse with the pad (ie it is in mouse mode) and the keys around the pad seem to work (ie enter, esc etc), as well as the numbers (in notepad) but the mouse / keyboard mode key does nothing (ie stays in mouse mode) and none of the media related keys (play, stop etc), or other special function keys (app exit, power etc) are working.

Also, for some reason my wireless USB keyboard has also stopped working inside MediaPortal (works fine outside of MP).

    IR Server logs attached.

Edit: Forget the business about the keyboard not working - wireless range / battery problem.

Using Vista 32bit SP1. With all 1.0.4.2 previews and with RC1 with MCE update I've had problems with PC-button. I've tried removing registry keys for MCE remote, sometimes I've let IR server to remove MCE services.

I've programmed that button to turn on PJ. Now it usually works alright, but just sometimes it still puts PC to standby/hibernate (and after waking up nothing works with remote). I never use power savings so I don't see missing remote after hib as an issue for me.. But going there when not wanting is. I suppose I could double check again if I've some MCE services running (I disabled them all manually before installing SP1).. What makes this weird is that that button works 9 times of 10 just correctly. And even when it puts compt to standby/hib it still turns on/off PJ too.

    I'm still here!

    Hey Everyone,

Sorry I've been missing in action lately but I've just started a new job and haven't found time for anything else yet. I'll try to answer as many questions as I can and give a bit of an update on where things are at ...

Basically, the core functionality of IR Server Suite seems to be working quite well, there are a few known problems that I'm working on but overall things look in fairly good shape. I still have big plans for improvements but it will take time...

I'll be trying to fix the remaining suspend/resume problems this weekend, and I should have a better time at it now because I've been set up with a nice new laptop for work. It's running Vista Business x64, so that will help me find and fix any remaining 64-bit issues while also making sure Vista is well supported. I'm not setup for working on IR Server Suite yet, but I should get some time on the weekend to get stuck into it.

The remaining issues all look pretty straight forward at the moment, assuming none of them are more complicated than anticipated I fully expect to make a 1.4.2 release within a couple of weeks. If I'm not 100% convinced it's ready I'll make another RC release in this thread, just to make sure.

I also want to take this opportunity to thank CybrMage for all his ongoing assistance with the iMon support. I'll start a new forum thread specifically for iMon support and let CybrMage take over that element entirely (if he's happy to do that).

Now, for some more specific answers ... (I'll leave iMon related questions for the expert)

    Gundy:

I'm working on the Tray Launcher problem, and it should be fixed very soon. If you want to test my fix send me your email address in a private message and I'll send you a replacement .exe to try.

    DrLurch:

It could be that the ir protocol is not reproducable by the MCE device, or any one of a handful of other IR related issues. You could try getting IR codes off RemoteCentral.com, but also do a bit of a search in the forums for other peoples experiences. Sorry I can't be more helpful than that right now.

    ehsany:

I've got a good Vista development rig now, plus a testing rig on completely different hardware so I should be able to solve the remaining Vista suspend/resume issues in the coming days.

    tvd4d:

Not sure what's happening there. It is true that on some third party devices Port 1 is giving trouble, can you please provide the log files, zipped up? Send me a Private Message with your email address and we can deal with this issue through email if you prefer?

    hirscho:

Translator losing all it's settings is quite strange... If you catch it doing it can you post a log? I'll take a look at the configuration loading code again and make sure there's nothing wrong...

    zaphman:

Thanks! I've added your changes and they will be released with the next version. I'm sure if it causes any trouble for WinLirc users I'll hear about it. Thanks again.

    riadmelb:

Try the current test version, I'm pretty sure I enabled Foxtel remote decoding when I changed some code recently.

    Runny:

Use IRBlast.exe to send commands to Input Service's on other PCs. You can call it from the command line to see the parameters, or look in the help file. You can then call it from within Translator... But I might add a new command in the future to blast to another server.

    joho500:

If the installer doesn't see the correct path for some reason then try pressing the "..." button to locate it manually. This feature is present so that people can have multiple MediaPortal installations... Which is especially useful for testers and developers.

    mironicus:

I have a Vista x64 development rig now so I should have the suspend/resume bugs fixed soon.

    Khurram:

Everything looks good in your log files. The port 2 issue is a problem with some third party devices. Looking at the log file your device is being identified as SMK or TopSeed. I'll try to put in an exception for your device and see if that fixes it. If you send me your email address I can send you something to test...

    Uh_Andy:

I'm glad to hear that. Let me know if you have any trouble or need any help.

    risu:

I've seen Vista re-load the MCE services from time to time on my own setup... make sure all the mce services are disabled, and if you make the registry change as well then even if they start they shouldn't see the remote being pressed.

The only other time the settings could be reverted is if the device is re-installed, but I doubt that is happening (unless a windows update did it...)

    Cheers,

Good to see you back :) Your support is unbelievably special!!!

I tried IR Server Suite - Test Build 1.4.2.1711 and didn't detect any of my Foxtel remote buttons, do you need some files?

Great to see you back. Hold on to this change for the moment. I was testing at the time and was probably running HIP at the same time as IR Server Suite; I think that can result in some problem with MCE devices. Just let me check with HIP disabled and re-confirm the port behavior.

    Thanks.
