IR Server Suite - Version 1.4.2 Test Build 3158/3281 (8 Viewers)

Hi Aaron,

Up until a week ago I had a wonderfully working MP with your IR Suite. The my motherboard melted and I decided to take the opportunity to go to 1.0.0.0. Unfrotunately I havent been able to get IR Suite working again for changing the channels on my STB.

Ive tried both version 1.4.2 and 1.0.4.1 with no success. I can test the blaster within the TV3 config and the blaster fires and the channels changes but within MP I get nothing. With 1.0.4.1 I did the SP1 upgrade and still nothing. I tried adding the TV3.dlls in post 34 (ish) but with those I couldnt test the blaster because it would levae me with 'none' in the drop box rather than having port1 and port2.

I dont know what I could be missing. I didnt do the registry editing the last time and I cant find anything with a search on the 61 pages in this thread so Im hoping someone can point out if Ive simply forgotten something very simple.

I can control the volume on my amp with no problems and as I said it works fine when I test it but not from within MP. Obviously with the new install Ive had to set up my tv channels again and I believe I have that correct with the STB channels being analog. I seem to remember something about setting the channels to external somewhere but I dont see that option now.

Ive also tried running MP in windowed mode whilst watching the debug window and nothing appears to be sent when I select a channel within the tv guide.

Hopefully Im missing something very simple.

Installed IRSS 1.4.2.2391 yesterday and it seems to support my iMon Pad perfectly fine and when using Translator I can control MP 1.0.0.0 pretty well, but....

Using MP Controlplugin I've had some troubles - added my iMon Pad and started MP 1.0.0.0 I got this in error.log:

2008-12-31 22:35:02.343750 [ERROR][MPMain]: MPControlPlugin - LoadRemoteMap(): System.ArgumentException: Requested value 'Open' was not found.
at System.Enum.Parse(Type enumType, String value, Boolean ignoreCase)
at MediaPortal.Plugins.MappedKeyCode..ctor(String button, String keyCode)
at MediaPortal.Plugins.MPControlPlugin.LoadRemoteMap( String remoteFile)

and couldn't get the remote to work via MP Controlplugin (worked fine using Translator).
After a lot of trial and error I ended up using Translator.

Today I had another go, and actually ended up having some success getting MP Controlplugin closer to working.... I discovered that some buttons actually worked through MP Controlplugin - more specifically the buttons listed above 'Open' in MP Controlplugin->Remotes->iMon Pad - I admit I didn't pay too much attention to the error.log-lines yesterday :/

Tried deleting the Open-button - launched MP again and hey presto! now my error.log says:

okay.... same procedure and I ended up deleting:

Open
WinStart
WinMenu
LeftClick
RightClick
ESC
Eject

and then I saw a pattern - all the deleted buttons didn't exist in 'C:\Program Files\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\InputDeviceMappings\defaults\MPControlPlugin.xml' and I guess that's a problem - it's a step I've missed or is there some nice and easy way to create those missing buttons?

Deleting all those buttons cripples my experience a bit though - but at least my iMon Pad now works through MP Controlplugin, I'd much rather have the option to easily create those under Map Buttons (or some guidiance on how to edit MyControlPlugin.xml correctly)

Can IR Server suite let me use my TV remote (Samsung) to control MP via a standard MCE receiver?


If not is there another way?

The plan was to rename this section to IR Server Suite when it got more mature.
Personally I think it would benefit from a renaming now.

Oh - Test Build 1.4.2.2391 is newer than 1.4.2 RC1

I am seeking help with this plugin and I hope some1 can.

A while back I came across a website (via this forum) that showed amost to the letter what I need to do (IR Server Suite to resolve Remote Control Problems - My Home Theater PC Project). However, the links on the top of the article don't work anymore and neither are the images that were once in the article. I'm afraid that without all these, I haven't got a chance of getting it to work.
My setup is almost the same as in the article, its a harmony 555 with in my case a Chieftec case which has the same IMON display (OEM).

Can any1 help me set this up from a newbies point of view? I know it's a lot to ask, but I was really depending on the above guide to help me

btw...some info on what i have done so far:
-Installed the latest Imon version (as mce)
-installed IRSS 1.42 (in control config selected the imon receiver)
-put Harmony 555 in soundgraph>imon pad mode
-in MP config selected the mce remote

As you can read at the top of the article you are referring to, the post has been superseeded (although I did not intend to remove the pictures , which has been corrected now, so please check again if you want...).

Using MediaPortal 1.0.0.0 and IRSS 1.4.2.2391 (which you can find in the start message of this thread) everything is working fine for me.

Major difference from your configuration is that in MP config I did NOT select the MCE receiver!

Try this out, as it might solve your problem....

Also, should I install Imon 7.20 or not? I read some mixed things about this that it is not needed?

I'm not sure how I setup my Harmony, it is already a long time ago I think I've used the same as you are referring to....

I have installed the Imon software, so I can not say whether that is really needed.

You seem to be following correctly, install IRSS 1.4.2.2391 (the latest version as far as I know) and select Imon in the IRSS config (follow the steps as on my website). Within MP Config don't select a remote, but in the plugin section you have to configure the IRSS plugin (follow my website again).

Good luck, and let me know when you encounter any problems.

By the way: I am still struggling with the standby/resume problem, which I think is caused by IRSS....
