now the display is initialized and cleared but there is no output on the display. I think it is a step forward.
I think there must be a special way of communicating with this special LCD. Maybe the guys from LCDHype can help ?

This is definitely a step forward. This means that the display receives at least SOME of m the commands I send.

If you had read the Readme file you could have figured out how to turn off that property browser without turning off my plugin :wink:

Worse part is I actually read the readme...I guess following instructions isn't my strong suit.

Have you thought about pasting a text version of the readme into the plugin section of the wiki?

No, it is not my intention to write a plugin for LCDHype. I just tried LCDHype to see what it was doing with the driver...

You could start by finding me more information and code examples about your displays.

If you have a program that is capable of sending some information to your display, you could try to use a tool like "USB Snoopy" to grab the usb traffic and send it to me. I could then try to figure out what the protocol is...

Hi Joe,

Your plugin is working great...filled in one of the final holes in my HTPC. I don't know much about the display protocols / drivers, but how difficult would it be to remap the character fonts to create big characters?

I'm thinking about something which could use a 16x2 display as a 8x1 display in certain contexts to make it easier to read at a distance.

Most LCDs and VFDs are character displays that have a fixed font. So this will not be possible for them.

There are a bunch of graphical displays that could support your idea but that requires a lot more communication between MP and the display because you have to draw every pixel yourself, so performance could be an issue here...

At the moment I'm concentrating on increasing the functionality. My next priority is supporting text mode in as many different displays as possible. After that I could add some graphics like the MP logo for some of the graphical displays...

So, I tested the new plugin, same like Thomas, clears the LCD but nothing shows on it. For me its a big step forward

Do u know, that this LCD need USB Drivers?

*Edit: öhm, after testing, I listen MP3's. And I see something on the LCD

Works everything, also in TV, shows the EPG information, in Videos the moviename and everything else.

But its really small, only text, but it works...

Its really great, but how I can make it bigger, maybe with the TV logos or other graphics?
