Do you have an idea what kind of display controller this display has, and the connection it uses?

I'm not familiar with that case...

The release version of version 2.0 is now online.
iMON and PropertySetter (None) support are back and -thanks to Nopap- the VL System L.I.S 2 display is now supported.

Don't forget to read the important news in the first message of this thread...

    Hi, JoeDalton....I'm here again
After a few time that I've tested other HTPC program I'm coming here again. :)

    ..but....I've aways the same problem...my display HD44780 won't work with your plug-in. :(

I've tried your tester program and with it the display work, but after I push the Init button the display become crazy. No other button can came back to work the display. So' do you have some idea?
I remeber you that my display is 16X2 with a "compatible" hd44780 (but it work whit all program like LCDHipe, LCDSmartie, LCDProc (under Linux OS)).

    Thank you... Great Job however....;)

Vincent, I don't know what could be wrong :?

You say that your display works with LCDHype, but my plugin is using the same LCDHype drivers. You seem to be the only HD44780 owner that has problems with it.

Are you sure you have the correct settings in the plugin setup screen?

    Type: HD44780 or compatible v1.1
Port: LPT1 <-- could be differrent for you...
    Columns: 16
    Rows: 2
    Comm. Delay: 40

Also check the Advanced configuration screen. Set them exaclty the same than in LCDHype.

    Finally

If it works OK, you can try to lower the value. A lower value is always better because it will speed up the plugin (and therefore MediaPortal).

Try to find a value as low as possible that works OK for you....

    Noritake VFD 128x32-311

First of all a big hand for your effort in making this LCD plugin .javascript:emoticon(':D')
    Very Happy

I have a noritake display wich doesn't function with your plugin.

With LCDhype everything is working correct.

I have been playing with your LCD test program and didn't get any result.

Frustrated I banged the text button a dozen times ...javascript:emoticon(':x')
    Mad
Then there was text on the VFD display!javascript:emoticon('')
    Surprised
I discovered that when the total number of characters send, exeeded the buffer of the display (21 x 4 characters) Then they where displayed on the VFD screen.
I think you driver misses a kind of return or other closing character/instruction after the string it has sent to the display.
Therefore the display waits for the next character and stay dark until its buffer is full. Then the smart thing presumes you to see the text.
Init, Clear en SetPos are working alright.

    KLOSS KL-I915A

    Hello JoeDalton,

First of all, congratulations for your great job!

I'm the happy owner of a Kloss KL-I915A (see http://www.klosspc.com

This box includes a VFD that was manufactured by SoundGraph, but is different from the standard Imon Inside VFD. I tried your plugin using the Soundgraph USB driver but did not manage to have anything displayed.

The Kloss alphanumeric capabilities are pretty poor (it can display only one line of 6 characters), and as it's an integrated VFD the plugin commands sent to the VFD will probably collide with other orders sent by the system... So probably it's not worth the effort, but I was wondering anyway if you plan to add support for it in the future?

The problem is that i cannot find any specification neither on the Soundgraph site nor on the Kloss site.

Maybe i can have a look inside the box to try to identify the chip used to control the VFD. I'll keep you informed if you think it's worth the effort.

    Thanks in advance.
