The HD44780 driver only supports 8-bit wiring.

The correct wiring schema for your display can be found here

Use the schema on the top.
If your display has a separate line for backlight control, connect that to pin 17 of the parallel port connector.

If you already connected it to pin 14, use the alternative light mode in the advanced setup.

If somebody need the SDK to control the AOpen EA65 Panel. Here you are, ...

There is also a MCE-Driver which handles the remote and the display (for EPG/MSN-Messages/ID-TAG/...), if it is easier to handle it via a driver-link.

Unfortuantly I am not able to do it for myself, in case of my time resources.

Actually, I have an external program that displays MediaPortal status to the VFD of the XCube..
I use it for personal use, it's not very configurable and displays exactly what I want... But if there's enough interest for it, I could expand it a bit and make it available for everyone..

(PS. My program claims the entire COM2 port, but I use a Serial Port Sharing program to use the Remote and the VFD at the same time, and it works really well that way..).

Also, the XCube only has 9 characters on the display and my program scrolls the text when it's longer then 9 characters.. Also, it uses all the little "icon" pictures on the VFD display.. When an MP3 plays, it turns on the little MP3 icon light.. when recordings it turns on the recording light.. etc.

I've tested your plugin with my 128x64 glcd with T6963c controller but didn't get it to work. I used the same settings like in LCDHype which is working great.
I've also tested your LCD Test Programm and tried many different settings but the display shows nothing. Is your plugin properly switching between Original and Tweakers.net wiring in the Advanced tab because my glcd needs Tweakers.net wiring. This could be the mistake.

No, not yet. Maybe in the future, but this has a very low priority for me.

Mediaportal is meant for a PC in your living room that is to replace the VCR and DVD player etc... Thus, the main purpose of the display is to show the MP status and menus. And as long as that is still open for improvement that will be my main priority...

Sorry for my bad english, i'm a Brazilian Developer...

I have a HD44780 display through the serial port. LCDHype does not have a driver for this situation. Moreover, I share the same serial port with WinLIRC.

To solve the problem I decided to develop my driver, using the SDK available from LCDHype website.

The driver access the serial port directly, through its I/O address, therefore it needs WinLIRC running BEFORE MediaPortal.

You must configure the baud rate in WinLIRC.

To install, copy the HD44780S.DLL to LCDDrivers folder.

The source code is included (Delphi 6).

Hi Joe,

I just installed MP 0.1.2 and now the VLSystem LIS2 VFD isn't listed in your plugin config anymore. I did a clean install of MP.
Do you have an idea of what could be happening ?

Edit:
Can the v2.0 version of your plugin still be used with MP 0.1.2.0 and up ?
