Yes, I'm aware of the character problem. That is still on my todo list...

    Hi JoeDalton,

Your plugin is great and works perfectly with my Imon VFD.
But, I have a small problem related to the manner how my motherboard is designed. All my USB ports (internal and external) are connected to the +5VSB, and no jumper nor bios option are avalaible to use the normal +5V instead. Therefore, when I turn off the PC, the last display is kept even PC off. To clear the VFD, I have to switch off the power supply behind the PC. It is a little annoying ...

Is there a solution you can suggest to me ?

How do you switch off your computer? Is it from within MP?
If so, try to exit MP before switching off your PC. See whether the display is cleared when MP is stopped.

If it is not, I think it is a bug in MP then, because that would mean it does not call the Close method of my plugin before shutting down.

I'll put it on my list of things to check/fix...

    I have tested both solutions.
    * Directly from MP, the VFD show (in French sorry)
    1st line "Boite Oui/Non"
    2nd line "Oui"
    * Using the off button of remote control, or exiting mp
    1st line "Mediaportal"
2nd line: the last hour before MP close
or anything else, but related to mediaportal

    Hello JoeDalton,

I have a problem with your Plugin. My Samsungs KS0108 works well with LCDHype and LCDInfo but it shows nothing when MP 0.1.2.0 is running. After 5 sleepless nights I have no idea what´s wrong. I´ve tried on 2 different PC´s, different LTP1-Settings, fresh WinXP and MP-installations, and my LCD shows nothing. (Of course LCDHype and LCDInfo aren´t running when starting MP). There are no errors in the MP Log-Files, the plugin is enabled and starting correctly.

Any suggestions??? Anyone else with the same problem???

I have found a bug in my plugin. I forgot the clear the display with some display types before shutting down my plugin.
This should be fixed in the next version of MediaPortal...

Are there some screenshots around to get an impression of how lcd displays can be used?

I'm sorry, but I don't understand your question...
You don't "use" an LCD display. My plugin just shows some information on it.

If you want to see for yourself what info is shown, you can setup my plugin to use the DebugForm output. That will give you a separate form with the output that normally goes to the LCD...

A screenshot of the configuration screen is available here: http://www.maisenbachers.de/dokuw/plugins:externaldisplay:configuration

I'm sorry but your display only seems to support graphics mode and not text mode. My plugin only uses the text mode of displays at this moment  .
Graphics mode is still on my todo list...
