That is strange. My plugin is using the LCDHype driver.
Are you sure the settings in MP are exactly the same than in LCDHype?

Hi, I have finally been able to get this plugin to work, but I have two issues. I'm new to MediaPortal, so the answer may be obvious.

I have a Zalman HD160 case, and I'm using the IrTrans driver. But before I could get anything to display, I had to install the DriverLinx io driver. I read somewhere that you shouldn't even be able to press ok in the plugin config window if that driver was required, but I could press ok. But then nothing happened when I started MP. I noticed an error in the log, so I installed DriverLinx and then it started to work. Is DriverLinx required for the IrTrans display?

Secondly, when I start MP with this plugin, the display goes very dark so I can hardly read what it says. If I use LCDSmartie, the display is much brighter. I have played around with the contrast slider, but it doesn't seem to do anything. Have I missed anything?

Hy, i have a samsung GLCD KS0108

when the plugin not support Text over Graphic, possibly we can use an external LCD Programm suchLCD Hype, LCD Smartie, LCD Studio to convert the messaegs from Mediaportal via the LCD Plugin! I am not a progammer, and my english is verry baad!

I hope we can find a solution fot this Problem.

for me is verry frustrating, before i buy a LCD i have read the supportet LCD's on this treat, and i see the KS0108 in the compatibliyt list.

My Solution for the Moment:
i have installed the LCD Studio, and run the Plugin for Winamp, i have setup winamp as external player for mediaportal, and disable the Mediaportal external Display Plugin.
this works fine, but only for Music

I use LCDHype 0.38. The settings at LCDHype are:
- Controller: SED133x Grahpic LCD v1.2 (LUI USB)
- Textmode 40 / 30 / 1
- Graphicmode 320 / 240 / 1

The settings in MediaPortal are the same but as Controller I have only the value "SED133x Graphic LCD v1.5 (LUI USB)"
Contrast is in the middle (i tested min and max without success).

Do you have any Ideas?

LCD Smartie does not support the KS0108, sorry i dont see that!

only LCD Studo an LCD Hype support the KS0108.

is it complicated to implement that this Displays can Write texts?

i know that the KS0108 not have an integratet chipset that generate Texts.

several Users have this Display, when think that your Plugin can handle Text with the Ks0108?

You can always try to overwrite the driver MP uses with the one from LCD Hype.
The driver DLL is called sed133x_usb_lui.dll
Then you are sure you're testing with the same driver version.

As far as I know LCDHype cannot write text to this display either. As you said, this display doesn't have a character generator built in, this means that when you want to display text on it, you have to draw it pixel by pixel. Is it difficult? No. Is it a lot of work? YES :!: , because that means converting the whole alphabet (and all those extra accented characters the French, Tchech and other people will be asking for :wink: ) to a binary bitmap.

As I said before, I'm concentrating first on making the graphics graphics mode. We'll see about adding text in graphics later.

PS: aren't any of those programs capable of showing text coming from the clipboard? There is a Clipboard driver in my plugin that copies the generated text to the windows Clipboard.
Another option may be to find a Windows MCE driver for your display, and use my other plugin: https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/viewtopic.php?t=10026

thanx for all.
I have tried the LCDHype Driver as you suggested. In MP I have now the value "SED133x Graphic LCD v1.2 (LUI USB)". But without success: nothing happend. What´s wrong?

What´s with the missed MP-Log-Entry (like in the log from another user, who posted his log) : ...ExternalDisplay.DisplayLines: Object references....
Perhaps you have a special Testprogramm for that problem?
Can I help in any way to find the reason?

For your interest: before i posted my first Help-Post, I had to install the DriverLinx because of an error message in MP-Log. After install the DriverLinx the error message don´t appear anymore.

Did I miss something, or did my Aopen Xcube EA65's VFD ever get supported? There were a few requests back on page 13(ish) but I didn't notice any positive responses!?
