What can be displayed on the LCD?

Hello Everyone,
I would like to control media portal using just an IR remote and an LCD using the lcd plugin (for listening to music near the pool and BBQ). Am I able to navigate my way through the MP menus and be able to select songs/albums using just the LCD or does the information it display not go into that sort of detail.
Thanks

You may be able to do that but it requires you to imagine the MP menu structure in your head because sometime you have to go left/right and not only up/down. Of course the LCD helps you but it's not as easy as it seems. :D If it's only for music I think a less complex software would be better.

First I think I need to clarify some things :

You need to distinguish 3 types of display :

-Graphical LCD which are connected on a Video Connector (VGA, composite, components, etc.)
-Graphical LCD connected over a data connection
-Text LCD/VFD connected over a data connection

The first type is not supported by this plugin.
The second and third one are only "bi-color"

My LCD is a BG16080ABNHBn (http://www.vtec.ch/db/BG16080A.pdf) controlled trough a T6963C (a standard LCD controller) which I wired myself.

Thanks for your answer.

Is there any basic documentation about LCD/VFD installation w/ MP?

I'm really new to this thematic.
I heard about LCDs and controllers for it and so on and probably don't have basic understanding. I should learn quite fast, though.

I'm looking for a nice blue graphical LCD, not too small. It should be complete as I am not familiar with wiring (and don't want to become :) )

Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance,

Anaxares

VLSystem M-Play Blast not working

Hello !

I didn't manage to get external display information to my VLSystem M-Play Blast.

I tried to use "VL System L.I.S 2 Driver V1.0 by Nopap" with COM3, but it doesn't seems to be compatible.

Any hint ?

Cheers,

Hi guys,

any news on the "iMON doesn't blank when hibernating" issue? I'm on 0.2.2.0 now, and the problem still exists....

Hi jayrock,

I saw your problem and I have to compare with my log when I'm home. Sorry but I think Joe has some problem with his computer atm.

Hi guys,

I have an Origen AE X11 HTPC chasis with a VFD display. I'm using mediaportal (what else :), and enabled/set the externaldisplay plugin. Everything shows normally on the VFD screen, but the contrast/brightness changes (very low, barely readable) whenever I start mediaportal. To come back to my original brightness setting, the only option is to restart the usbtray irtrans server. Strangely enough, if I use the irtrans guiclient application and select diagnosis the brightness shows unaffected and set to it's maximum value, though everything is very dim...

Any ideas ?

Cheers,
Andy

I've got a iMON VFD also... no problem when going to hibernate here.
Using 0.2.2.0 plus latest SVN.

Perhaps setting it to the other LCD driver in the externaldisplay config will help you out? I'm using the SoundGraph iMON driver v1.0.
