hi,

as i don't have space to use riser cards in my HTPC i need a low-profile TV-card...

do there exist any HW-encoder tv-cards? if yes, are there any tests? can anyone recommend a low-profile tv-card to me?

thx

Point of view NVTV

NVTV is a low-profile card. The TV image is good, the IR remote is great, compliment software is terrible, and I believe the board is somewhat locked: I never could get the image from an external DVD source (through s-video).

When MP supports the NVTV board, it may be a good option. Else, you could go for a full-height htpc case. That's what I did (and got a middle-of-road hauppauge board).

Hi, you can also have a look at the new aopen va2000N or try to get a ati e-home wonder, both have mpeg2 encoder.
Both are low profile and cheaper than the nvtv

yeah, just googled, the 150MCE also exists as low-profile.. that's nice, because that would be my favourite anyway, but i couldn't find any pictures.... and nowhere to buy in germany again....

but sounds like an option...

Most (all?) small PC cases accept only ITX motherboards, which have only one PCI-E slot. So you could install only one PCI-E tuner card. A quad-tuner card would give you four tuners, but if you wanted more tuners you would need to use the TBS eight-tuner card, or use external tuners, either USB tuners (available with single or dual...

When I tested MP 2.5 some months ago using TVE3.5, I found that "scan for channels" failed to find any channels when I selected a DVB-T2 tuner (a TBS 6284) :(, but succeeded when I used a DVB-T tuner (a Pinnacle 2000i) :). Obviously the Pinnacle found only those channels broadcast in DVB-T MUXes (in the UK we have both DVB-T MUXes and...

I also have never used a set-top box with MP, but I think that you need to use an IR emitter (aka "IR blaster"). The IRSS software controls the emitter, and transmits IR signals under the direction of MP. The IR signal is received by the IR receiver within the set-top box, and so can be used to change channel and so on. The set-top...
