Perfect stats so it's not a packet loss problem. You could try another tool to check the throughput (transfer speed) is high and fairly constant. If it is then I can only suggest again to look at the performance of the hard drive on the server, I think that's the most likely culprit.

    :D for helping me!

    Which program/tool do you suggest?

This is a short test during avatar with huge frame drops. Is this unusual?

    Makes no difference

I also did a another quick test: When I play a movie when I resume the server from standby, it will stutter. If I restart the server and play a movie it doesn't stutter.

Must be a clue to my problem.

Yes I agree 9mb/s sounds low, although it should still be enough as blu ray cannot exceed 56mbit which is 7mb/s. I'm guessing Avatar is pretty close to the maximum at 40gb.

Windows reports an average so for example you may be getting 50mb transferred one second then just 5mb transferred for the next 5 seconds.

Is your entire network 1gbit (ie switch/router and both network cards)?

    Yes

What OS are you using on server? I have problems with stutter when playing from an WHS V1. Many people seems to have these issues with WHS even on high spec hardware. For me it seems to help to turn off the service that balance the disks during playback of video. Fragmentet hardy-drives also makes things worse.

Now I de-installed both NIC drivers (intel + onboard) and restarted the server. Both NIC's were automatically recognized by windows. Then I put the server into resume. After that I put on my htpc and woke up the server with WOL powermanager. Played avatar again till the end and got 0 frame drops.

So the hardware is definately capable, but I've had this before. So I hope it stays that way.

Only difference I see is, that before, I disabled the onboard NIC. And now I didn't. Can this be related to the issue I have/had?

    I found something!

When I play a movie after the HTPC has been woken up from resume, it will stutter. With a fresh restart it will play fine. So I tried ticking the option in mediaportal config: restart mediaportal after resume. This seems to do the trick! At least I hope so!

The problem has reoccured again! :(

After a few days testing without problems, the issue happened again. And I don't have a clue where to look. It is not a mediaportal issue, because it also happens with other players. But that's the only fact I know, and my best guess is, it has something to do with my network. But what.

This is driving me insane. Plz help.
