    Re: Maya: Beta release 06-02-10

I will have a look at my psd files. Perhaps a fresh look can make a difference. The background is fully custom made and i really hate the banding.
Thanks Tourettes for pointing this out to me. I am determined to ban the banding :)
Maybe you can send me a jpg at 100% ('no compression) on 1920x1080? I can do some experiments with it on my plasma TV using Fireworks. I also have the background as my windows 7 background and as a loading screen, so I can use it anyway. Maybe even turn it into some pack to match visualisations of Win7 and MP with Maya.

I've made a brand new background with less banding. Please test on your systems.
btw a non compression jpg is a contradiction ;) So i included a zip file with background.tif

Less banding, but still quite visible. I guess it is either limitation of 24bit color depth or Samsung's monitor, since those colors that show the banding are differing only one step in RGB components. Only way to improce that would be to use dithering, not sure if there are some tools that can handle such automatically (and manually its not possible to do in sane amount of time).

I now have zero banding on my LCD Television @32bit colour depth.

I've tried dithering (actually adding gausian noise) but it did not work for me. My Samsung LCD tv shows alot of banding on the old background. While my Dell laptop shows less but still visible. My old Acer laptop doesnt show any banding.
Still have to try the new background on my main htpc.

I'm trying to do a tiny edit to the TVOSD.xml.

Is it possible to have conditional visibility based on whether the media that is playing is LiveTV?
