Re: Maya: Beta release 06-02-10

One question that I don´t find anywhere, It is 4therecord supported in this skin???

It's being worked on. You can download the first "draft" of it from the Maya Googlecode:

Issue 61 - mamp2 - Support for For The Record? - Project Hosting on Google Code

There's a link to "draft 2" about halfway down that page. Make sure you get that one not the first.

It's pretty decent as is, couple minor tweaks here and there but otherwise looks good and full 4TR functionality. Maya should be integrating it in to the next release.

P.S. I use 4TR, and these files, myself.

As the author of those files I regretfully have to say because of some unfortunate events I can not develop it anymore.
Hope someone else is willing to pick it up.

I will. Although in truth the last draft you posted works and looks fine. There are a few cosmetic changes needed and I'm pretty certain it's not fully "integrated" with the options the Maya installer gives you regarding size of the preview window/font size/number of TV rows (i.e. they are all fixed) but otherwise there isn't a whole lot to do. I'd vote that the Maya installers include them in their next release/svn and in the meantime I'll see what I can do to fix a couple of things.

In short, if you want to use 4TR with Maya by all means use the last version Joz posted to the link I gave, I do. And you should want to use 4TR if you don't, as I feel it's superior to the built in TV client in every way. It really takes the basic TV features of MePo and "upgrades" them to a near Tivo-like experience. The web-based scheduling alone is worth it.

Except every time you click 'OK' on a channel to watch it in the EPG, it throws up a damn dialogue box asking if you want to 'view this channel' - when I click 'OK' on a channel I want it to tune immediately, I don't want to have a redundant dialogue box come up.

I loved the 4tR Web interface and it did have very clever scheduling functionality. However, I found that when the database was being updated with new xmltv guide the hard drives were getting absolutely hammered, for about an hour they were at 100% usage, I feared for how long they would last! This along with some annoyances with the MP tv client (like the one above!) led me to recently ditching 4tR and going back to the original MediaPortal client.

Also the 4tR developers are busy re-inventing the wheel with thier own TVServer style software. Leaving a half-baked MediaPortal client that looks like it'll never get any improvements.

Skin's background image could use a BIT less packing, as there is huge amount of banding visible. Current blocky result is not that nice when compared to other GUI graphics.

Also it would be good to release the Maya Home Plugin code as it most likely is derivate from MP source code.

Is TV Gemist supported? If so, what version? I see xml files but get no video window, just a Now Playing window.

The background looks great on my laptopscreen but has indeed banding on my lcd tv. This is most likely because lcd tvs have not really the same color depth as a dedicated computerscreen. Its very noticable in gradients. Thats why skins with fanart look so well on lcd tvs.
I havent found a solution for it yet. Although good calibration of you tv could make some difference.

it has huge banding on monitor as well: 24" 16:9 LCD monitor 2494HM - monitor - monitor | SAMSUNG

Banding is really bad on the left side and it looks like it would be sourcing form the material itself. I'll do some more testing...

I will have a look at my psd files. Perhaps a fresh look can make a difference. The background is fully custom made and i really hate the banding.
Thanks Tourettes for pointing this out to me. I am determined to ban the banding :)

Sorry, support is suspended for the time being since the plugin is no longer maintained. It will not work with the latest svn of Mp.
