i would like to vote for no big fonts - at least for me the fonts in the standard MP skin - are too big... but we will see

All popular skins except Bleazle, Blue3wide and Black Glass have too small (any much too small) fonts for me.
Think there are a lot of different opinions, but for me a skin is worthless (also the great looking) when i need to do an eye contest to read epg or movie descriptions or whatever.

Think, this matter is discussed very different, i just wanted to give my 5 cent.

The preview pictures of this skin look fantastic i am very curious how readable the fonts will be - contrast looks very good, font size i cannot really estimate, will see, i look forward to release

Keep up this great work and dont think, this post is an offense, its just my 5 cent to the discussion of fonts.

We consider everyones opinion to be important. You are the user(s) for which we try to make this skin.

You can change font sizes even manually by editing the fonts XML file. But this is not going to be helpful if the skin layout has been designed in such way that there is no room for the bigger fonts. This works really rarely and causes either text to be too big to fit in specific places (like buttons etc.) and if the text is still fitting most likely looking ugly as the skin is not designed for such font size (basicly skins tend to look fat / crowded when just adjusting the font size).

With a viewingdistance of 5-6m on a 32"TV, even you will need binoculars for skins with small fonts.

Also keep in mind that even if you can read it now, your eye has to work a lot harded to read small text, and therefore it will become "tired" faster.
Thats one of the rules designers have to keep in mind when creating any GUI's. At least the good ones.

Well, the font-size vs. screen real-estate will never satisfy all of us. We just need to find the best compromise here, it will probably come down to a "normal fontsize" and "bigger fontsize" button in the setup.

Hey, I may even make it possible to change it from the Configuration

Regarding the screenshots, they are a 99% correct representation of the working skin, only a few small changes are needed in order to get it 100%.

So, let's all head on over to the Development > Submit patches section and start accepting patches

Didn't we have the discussion about font size some pages before? And didn't joostzilla and pilehave say they will think about it and maybe give us different sizes to choose? I think so. So let's wait and see...

I know this skin is being designed for MediaPortal users so I'm sure our comments are worth noting, but fonts have been raised several times.. perhaps it's best just to wait for the devs to finish their skin as they intend and then provide feedback once you get a chance to use it..

I keep coming back to this thread thinking the new posts might be about a release Then find out it's more font paranoia..
