Synopsis::

The MCE Remote stops working in MediaPortal after resume from hibernation and/or if unplugged and plugged back in. This issue is simple to reproduce.

1. Hibernate Windows while MediaPortal is running.
2. Turn the PC back on and the MCE remote stops working in MediaPortal.
3. Quit MediaPortal and then restart it and the MCE remote works OK.

or

1. Unplug the MCE remote and plug it back in to any port (I started with the original port) and the MCE remote stops working in MediaPortal.
2. Quit MediaPortal and then restart it and the MCE remote works OK.

After unplugging the MCE remote or resuming from Hiberate I get the following message in the log "MCE: MCE receiver has been unplugged".

After plugging the MCE remote back in or after resuming from Hibernation I expected to see a message in the log like "MCE: MCE remote enabled" but never got one.

I first noticed this bug when I was using "Play DVD" after resuming the PC from Hibernation. I found that I couldn't stop the DVD playback or use the "Back" button etc. The direction, OK, and volume (no OSD is displayed) buttons still work in MediaPortal but I think that XP is just passing those commands to MediaPortal and does the same for any other multimedia app.

    Hi,
Just tested here & update from MP 0.2 to 0.2.0.2 & no problems with the MCE remote.

CHli, just backup your old folder & install the update, if it goes wrong, delete the MediaPortal folder & install the backup again (* here you need the start.bat :D ).

    * If you need the Start.bat grab it from a svn version

    Regards
    Roy

    My answers to your questions:

Does the remote work outside of MediaPortal.

    yes

Has anyone changed usb port !

Yes - I tried all 6 USB ports no change.

Have you done the registry modification.

    No

The MCE remote puts the PC in standby and out of standby no problem and it works in MediaPortal after resume from standby no problem.

As per my original post "The MCE Remote stops working in MediaPortal after resume from hibernation and/or if unplugged and plugged back in." that's nothing to do with standby S3 mode.

I'm building a second HTPC and I have both the Microsoft and Hauppauge versions of the remote. Will let you know which combinations work/don't work. The second PC has an Intel chipset the problem PC has a VIA chipset so we can hopefully rule out any chipset and driver issues.

Er, solved my hibernate issue with turning on/off with TV running.
Now got Remote, various keys not working.

    What works

up/down left/right arrow keys and ok, volume up/down Mute, numbers 1-9, clear and enter, pc power/hibernate.

    What does not

Record, stop, pause, play, back, i (more), green button Channel up/down, recorded TV, Guide, Live TV, DVD menu and possibly 1-4 other buttons.

So from looking at this the system keys seem to be working ok, just not the specific keys for running MP.
So appears to be a breakdown of communication between MP and the remote after resuming.

Edit. After above have just put back into hibernation and resumed and now none of the system keys work, MP loaded with black screen and had to controlaltdelete to shut MP down.
    Now it's getting really scary.

    Regards
