    Hi.

To tell more I need the output of mediainfo for both files.

The default ones are not too bad as a start. Changing them only is a matter of fine tuning.

    Hello @Lehmden

thanks for your response. Just for completeness I pulled mediainfo from the TS file and the MKV file. The TS file does not show up in MP2 but the MKV one does. Attached exports from mediainfo. Hope you can make heads or tails of these...

    Hi.
    Thanks for the media infos.
Your .ts is not in very good shape. It contains two audio tracks (both in english). This generally is no problem at all, but they are of different length and fps. The first audio track has 31.250 FPS the second has 41.667 FPS. Both did not match the 25.000 FPS of the video file. So at least it will have sync issues. The video stream is interlaced. No error but progressive is much easier to play especially on weak devices. So your .ts is not very healthy at all and definitely need some fixes to be good... The size is at a "normal" level so it don't need a transcoding as long as you can live with the interlaced mode... While transcoding the video can be de-interlaced (standard in MKV-Buddy).

Your MKV is encoded to h263 (Xvid/DivX) a codec that is not supported by MKV-Buddy at all. As I've written MKV-Buddy I really know what is supported and what isn't. If you really have made it with MKV-Buddy the original .ts must be a complete mess. MKV-Buddy uses HandbrakeCLI as transcoding tool (because it is faster a lot compared to ffmpeg that is used in most other tools like this) and probably the input video was of such bad condition that HandbrakeClI uses a "fallback" setup instead of the options delivered from MKV-Buddy. But also I'm using MKV-Buddy since years I never saw something similar before...
You better try to remuxx the .ts to .mkv without transcoding or optimizing and test the result before trying to do anything else. You can remuxx the .ts with MKV-Buddy, if you like. But in such cases I prefer to use MKVToolnix as it is more error resistant than MKV-Buddy.

The usage of the old and obsolete XVid codec is the reason why the .mkv is bigger a lot than the .ts that is coded in h264 (AVC). Aside this it has two English audio tracks. The first track is exactly the same as the first track in the .ts. The second track is transcoded to flac and is probably without sync issues any more. As no FPS is displayed in mediainfo I only can guess this.

The mkv misses all Subtitle tracks (Danish, Swedish and Norwegian) so probably it will not be too useful for you... If it was made with MKV-Buddy you better untick the subtitle optimizer function, if you want to keep the subtitles.

And your naming didn't look very straightforward to me. "2 Days in New York (2012) C More First HD.ts"... "2 Days in New York" is the movie title and "(2012)" is the release year. Both is pretty normal. But what does "C More First" stand for??? Try to name the .ts like this: "2 Days in New York (2012) (tt1602472).ts" or shorter, "2 Days in New York (tt1602472).ts" and I'm pretty sure it will be imported into MP2 medialibrary without issues...

First of all, thanks for a really great deepdive! :D

It might be that the TS file is poor and not usable. The cutting of the file was done some time ago and I really do not remember the program. Either it was Videoredo or avidemux. Sometimes the recording was not 100% but then Videoredo seemed to fix it while cutting, but maybe it just ruins the file?

The file name is just the source of the recording, C More is the channel where it was recorded. First the moviename, then the year in paranthesis. I did not know that you could use the URL key as-well, that is a neat trick. I might try that. :D Thanks. This filename was imported without issues though...

For the MKV conversion. Yes it was make with MKV buddy with all default settings. No configuration at all. I will try some more. Is there anyway you know to run an investigation on the movies to find out if files are good or bad? Maybe I have similar issues with more of my TS files? Maybe I could get MKV buddy to run in batch mode during night. For instance from 01:00 to 06:30 to clean up the movies and fix what is wrong.

For your information I get a lot of these errors in the server log:

Seems that the timeout is repeating all the time. Not sure why. This is probably why the rescan takes forever and then some. Maybe I should try to run the command on the CLI to find out what is happening?

So I noticed that my MP2 setup always seems to report 1 film less than everything else (MP1, Kodi, Emby).

After trawlings through the logs I eventually found out it was because I have 2 files for Donnie Darko:

    Donnie Darko (2001) tt0246578.mkv
    donnie darko (2001) director's cut.mkv

For some reason these are being merged together according to the logs:

Media item 8bb60119-31f0-4787-a857-71efd2159b8c with name Donnie Darko (2001) (Donnie Darko (2001) tt0246578.mkv) added/updated (17 ms)
Media item 01469cd3-b5f6-4f08-a758-12b6ee7b99ec with name Darko Collection (01469cd3-b5f6-4f08-a758-12b6ee7b99ec) added/updated (0 ms)
Media item 8bb60119-31f0-4787-a857-71efd2159b8c with name Donnie Darko (2001) (Donnie Darko (2001) tt0246578.mkv) imported (71 ms)
Media item with name Donnie Darko (2001) (donnie darko (2001) director's cut.mkv) was merged into 8bb60119-31f0-4787-a857-71efd2159b8c (54 ms)

How am I supposed to view the Director's Cut version? Or how should I name this so that it's picked up as a film in its own right?

    Hi.
For some reason these are being merged together
This is as planed, a feature to keep track about various versions of one movie (LowRes version for mobile devices, 4K version for the big screen and 3D version for the Beamer as example).

How am I supposed to view the Director's Cut version?
This is not as planed. Normally you should be able to select which version to play but this is not working. I can confirm it's not working, have tested it myself seconds ago. Definitely a bug, so please do a proper bug report, thanks.
