MediaPortal2 is going to replace MP1 at some point. When is another question
Right now we want to get MP1 final out, and only bugfixing is done.
MP2 is made from scratch. It even has its own GUI engine, which will increase WAF. You can read more about MP2 in Wiki, news etc., and even try an very early tech release.

I have 3-4 half baked htpc systems (hardware and software) that Ive tried and didnt finish over the last 4 years, but I think Im finally gonna do it!
The recent hardware is also a big help, fanless low power clients etc

yes that is indeed what I did in that ticket. It may already be working without updating those plugins because most of it was not relevant to the plugin itself (test, some leftover unused parts etc).
