Some suggestions for improvements in MP2 just because I am bored this morning

- WPF/XAML based skinning system
- Messaging system for plugins to interact with each other
- Extendible back-end database for all parts of media portal, not just music db.
- Better Menu system (customisable menus inside menus)
- Automatic plugin installs from inside media portal
- New basic skin
- No more PNG packaging
- Codec checker in installer
- Facility to check for dead/incompatible plugins

I think thats about it for now

Maybe not. There are a number of bugs in WPF, which prevent it from being used. For example it will not play DVDs. These bugs have been reported to MS and some have been fixed, but they have not released these fixes.

So for the moment we can forget a WPF GUI with a XAML Skinning system.

I have an idea of what example applications you are refering to, but since I'm working with WPF myself at the moment and we have produced some really cool stuff with it, I was refering to real experience (although not without headaches of course, but if you want to use new stuff it's usually like that in any case).
As for the DVD issue, I was thinking of it as a pure layout layer.

mediaportal is also using intelligent connect when playing videos.
the only exception are h.264 and mpg2 movies. there you have the possinility to define the codec you want it to use, regardless what the merit setting of this filter is.

An option to use merits might be a nice addition. For users who don't know, care, or understand.
