grassynoel, are there any of your artworks hosted on these sites? I'm eager to discover more of your work. and BTW what do you think of this competition idea? do you have any reserve about this idea? You're the most prolific and involved member on this topic and that's why your opinion is crucial IMO.
Seeing them together ...definitely MPboy (which could steal the name MePol anyway)
...and definitely MPboy can have (as I can visualize in my brain) all three forms needed: 3D, 2D (cartoon), abstract (2D emblem like)

MePo, MP boy everything glenn touches goes to gold. i just wish i had 1% of his artistic talent. Damn what a talent. If i have to chose from the above i would go for MP boy. This little fellow has a friendly attitude while MePo could be seen as a little monster. I like MePo myself too but for MediaPortal use i would choose MP boy
I already can't think of MediaPortal and not visualize MP Lad/Boy...

I think we should also consider (without being pedantic or obsessed) gender, race, and age neutrality when thinking about a mascot, thus ensuring MediaPortal appeals to the widest possible range of users.
I have a strong preference for MePo with the black face. It is simple and attractive. In my opinion, having a mascot loosely based on the human 'form factor', such as MePo, or an animal, like Harley's ant, will be more appropriate and flexible than one based on a human character (as with MP Lad, a young, caucasian male).
All the submissions so far are great, but in my view MePo (both the name and the character) is a perfect fit. I also think that the stylized MP logo grassynoel has come up with is fantastic.

Too much racial stuff attached to MePo for it to be a Mascot. Perhaps a re-design and he could be a contender but not until then.
