Depends what the spec on this machine is.

Is it a desktop, laptop? You'll have to give us a bit more information.

Alternatively, you could just install MediaPortal and see how well it runs.

I have installed MediaPortal on my Acer Aspire One and tried to play a movie from an external harddisc. The movie plays, but with long periods of checkered screen. Following the guide I've tried to open Configurations to set the codecs - I should click on "Movies" and choose video and audio settings - but "Movies" is not an option in Configuration. How do I get it right? And I'm in no way a nerd!
    Thanks end cheers

    Hi,
Thanks a lot - I will try, as soon as I get to the relevant notepad.

There should be a codec section on Mediaportal 1.1.0 and above. Can't remember exactly what its called in the menu but it's towards the bottom of the list in the configuration utility.

Hello, I would like to use a media server to display various learning categories. I prefer not to use software like Kodi, as it requires extensive metadata scraping that I don't need. Is it possible to instantly access the video categories when landing on the page? I would like to display a single media page with the following...

The only changes I see are: Updated Marcel Groothuis version of the plugin to now support Media Portal 2.5 I can't say anything about the functionality of this plugin, I don't use TV Part, but if there are any changes that can be simply transferred, then I can try. But I can't give any guarantees.

Hi all, I don't frequently update my MediaPortal and before seeing if it's really useful I used to browse the Changelog to determine if this update is necessary for my system or not. Today I wanted to check the Changelog for version 1.34 (1.31 installed on my system) and I was asked for a “Jira” login. I tried to use the same one as...

Ok, so perhaps a solution, but not the "right" solution. On the client, within media portal configuration, under TV settings, advanced options, I switched to UNC paths instead of the default RSS, and it's working very well. Sure I had to figure out the paths, but no big deal. Maybe helpful for someone in the future. Thanks for the...
