Yes, I've just found this thread. Unfortunately too late. :( So the conclusion is: no HDTV (interlaced) with MP 1.0.1(2) on such system like Nvidia ION ...

BTW: It's not problem to build powerfull PC to play 1080i but it's problem to make such system silent and good looking to place it in the living room. :(

    hey out there :)

my Zotac ION is running more than good... The only problem I have, are movies with 24p... But that's a TV problem ;) (it's not supported :p )

I will do more tests over time, but I have to say, that it's a very good solution for non high-end-upscaling-freaks ;)

    stoked

Just ordered my N330 Zotac mobo. I'm curious, has anyone tried MP on W7 on an Ion system? I'm thinking XP will be a better bet since W7 requires Aero enabled in order for MP to playback nicely.

    Hi Stoked,

I can try W7. But I thing there will be no difference between Vista and W7. Win XP is pretty old system, I don't like it ;)
Btw I've made a few tests on Vista and there has been a performance improvement in HDTV (interlaced) playback when I changed the 667 DDR2 modules for 800 DDR2. But only in "low" (1280x1024) resolution. It was still unusable for Full HD (1920x1080) resolution on my Bravia. :(

mpeg2 1080i or x264 1080i? Not too concerned about x264 1080i, or really 1080i at all for that matter.

On my m1330 laptop for daily use, very glad I was able to get rid of Vista, W7 is definitely what Vista should have been. But for a HTPC that runs MP exclusively I think XP would likely run better, maybe I'll run some tests between XP and W7.

Stoked you were absolutely right with Windows XP. I've just tried XP and MP 1.0.2 (resolution 1680x1050) and there has been a HUGE improvement in video performance!
    I can't believe this
    You can see the screenshot!

Sorry, are you being sarcastic? Wasn't sure with all the rolley eyes and stuff. I noticed the Last FPS was 0 in the screenshot.

No, no sarcasm. Look at the second line VMR9 50,00 avg fps: 49,92 and DROPPED:0 that's great!
Big thanks for your idea to try Zotac with Win XP. Now I have absolutely quiet and low power HTPC.
    :D
