Many thanks to everyone for all the app links, though my main issue is that I was happily running without changing anything from default settings in MP, (but obvs having the Windows power settings), for years, then start getting all these issues after upgrading to 1.22. I don't agree that "every Windows update messes with the power settings", as I've had several and they haven't done that.

You should take a deeper look for this.
This, and other things like force use of M$soft photo application to view pictures instead of paint or force use of M$soft "films and TV"application (don't know the app name in your language) when playing video instead of VLC is usual when a "big" windows 10 update is installed and, that's a pain...
