I'm running MP 1.4 on a Windows 7 machine. For some reason it won't play the audio on MP4 videos which have an MPEG AAC audio track. Any ideas for how I can enable playback of this sort of audio track?

I already have it set to LAV decoder. I tried all of the other options in the dropdown (Divx, Microsoft DTV-DVD, Monogram, MPC and SageTV) and none of those will play the audio either.

It seems that the audio problem isn't just with AAC - other videos are also not playing (and I'm pretty sure they did before). Eg. one of the other videos has an audio track using the MPGA codec, and that won't play either. Only one or two files will render audio. All of these play fine with the standard Windows Media Center application however, so there's definitely no problem with the hardware/sound drivers.

???

Update: I spotted the problem. I just opened the Windows audio mixer and noticed the MP component there, which was muted!

I don't know about MP2 but as you said you tried MP1 too, how is the MP music config ? MP(1) will only use LAV if you select "Internal DirectShow player" as music output, but then you lose gapless playback. If you you don't have multichannel music you can choose WASAPI as the output and set the number of speakers to stereo. I have...

Sorry, it's my fault -- I did not notice that you are using MP2. :( MP1 has a separate configuration utility, similar to "TV Server Config". I have tried MP2 only a couple of times, and have never used it seriously. I don't know what MP2 supports with regard to adjusting audio delay, but I do know that all of the adjustments of...

MP has adjustable audio delay. I don't know whether this works for all video formats, but it certainly works for TS files, and may work for MP4 files. There is a slider that allows you to adjust the audio delay while playing a video. Press the INFO button on the remote control to display the OSD, select the "Audio" icon, and then...

I compliment you on the thoroughness of your investigations. (y) Unfortunately, I don't have any ideas what the problem might be. :( Perhaps someone else will post with some suggestions. -- from CyberSimian in the UK
