PS: once I've done these tests, I'll update to your new beta.

Does it work now?

Hi Manfred,

Yes it does work and I think I may be getting to the root of the 'problem'; I thought that I needed to play the dvd before using mediaslayer, and in those instances it worked. Doing the same process with another DVD also gave me the mencoder error, this time I closed Mediaportal and noticed an auto run window and wondered if that might the cause. Anyway, last night I tried another DVD which also gave me the mencoder error, I closed down MP and there was just the windows desktop; so I took remote control of the PC and started MP, slected medaislayer and it all worked as expected, i.e. I got to choose the artwork and which audio option.

So I'm leaning towards that the culprit might be my remote control - I'll try a dvd tonight that has failed in the past but using remote control and see if that works first time.

I have got a problem with the latest version.

When I'm ripping DVD with your program they are only DVD5, not full ISO.
    Using MediaSlayer v1.0c & DVDFab v5.0.9.5.
Have run setup and configured the plugin under DVD to Full disc as ISO.

When using Advanced GUI mode, if you select music or video you can't exit without selecting a path.
The program has problem to calculate free disc space when you have Music and Video on shares.
I have \\Media\Audio on one harddrive and \\Media\Video on one harddrive. The program thinks it's the same drive and gives the value from the first one.

Would be great if you know a solution to the first problem

Manfred: I have an idea for mediaslayer. Why dont you make a file in where you can put the parameters for dvdfab and mencoder? it will be more configurable.

And you have some kind of background decrypter installed?

There is setting for that in DVDFab: select DVD to DVD and there default output size, which is DVD5 at default.

Have to check this free space issue.

Because then people get starting to complain that it does not work after they have changed some of the command line parameters. And one idea of the plugin was simplicity.

Yes i have dvd43 installed and running in background, but the DVD i am trying to rip doesnt have a protection. I will try it with a protected DVD.

The file parameter could be an optional, you can put the same parameters you put into the dll in a text file, and if the people wants, they can modify it, but the parameters should be the same which are in the dll actually.

Thanks for the great plugin, this completes my HTPC! I am, however, having an issue that I hope you can help me with.
When ripping a DVD to mpeg4, it makes 1 pass (to 100%) and creates an approximately 1GB file. The bottom bar shows only 50%. It then deletes the avi file and starts from scratch showing pass 1 at 0% and total at 0%. Once the 1st (truly second) pass shows 100% and the bottom bar shows %50, it will finally show "Finished" and the rip will be done.

Why does it do two passes and call each the 1st? Why does it delete the video after the 1st pass is complete? Why does the bottom bar only show 50%?

I've checked the logs and there's nothing errant in there showing what could be occurring. According to both debug and error logs, everything is fine.

    Any ideas?

A1: Because it was a bug in variable initialization.
A2: 1st pass video is useless and mencorer deletes it when 2nd pass is starting. For 2nd pass only log file is used from 1st pass. There is all info mencoder needs for 2nd pass.
    A3: See A1.

This patch includes also a fix for other than english OS users if OK button is something different. Unfortunately you have to manually patch MediaPortal.xml file. Find the MediaSlayer section and add a key called OK_label with correct value. Example:

Sí
