Hi,
I have a problem since upgrading from 1.7.1 to 1.8 with the SQL 5.6 upgrade option that has never occurred. I use the computer power switch to shutdown windows and a memory application error now occurs where I need to acknowledge and then continue the shutdown.
Running on Windows 7.

Any Ideas?

Regards,
Markus

    Yep same problem,

All htpcs i upgraded to 1.8 - clean install, Wont shut-down nicely anymore using:
    -power button on mce remote
    -pressing power button on PC.

was not a issue on any previous version

Running on Windows 8.1 with all updates.

    @seco :)
Maybe related to the change done in MP shutdown to avoid fontengine crash. (It take time to fully close and maybe lead to another issue now)

    1) can you reproduce every time?
    2) can you reproduce every time without 3rd party plugins?
    3) can you reproduce using MP "Close" in GUI shutdown menu?

I've seen this too. Installed 1.8 yesterday on my secondary unit and when I shut it down I got the dde error message. If it does it again tonight I'll collect and post logs.

Was actually running 1.6 on this box before the upgrade and never saw the error before.

I tend to shut this unit down with the power button as it's usually late at night and I can't be bothered to find the remote :).

    cheers,

    Wo0zy

1/ Yes, every time using Physcial Power Button and MCE Remote Power Button

2/ Yes, i removed all 3rd party plugins, same problem occurs

3/ No, both the Close and Shutdown from Within mediaportal work fine, no error messages.

If you are in a plugin such as myvideos and you do a shutdown with power button, the application error slightly changes - has DDE server in the infront of the message - see screenshot attached

    Thanks seco!

If you do end up needing logs let me know. I still have 1.6 installed on my main unit in the living room.

    Cheers,

    Wo0zy.

So the good new is that it is very clear why this error pops up

OnFormClosing handler is called twice, because of by Windows event triggering (eventually handled by MP) and then again by MP FrameMove explicitly calls Form.Close() which again fires the event and handler OnFormClosing. This has been the case since, I don't know, from the beginning but clearly again is an incorrect behavior.

The bad news is that I have no idea how to fix this properly since there are tons of scenarios and functionality build on this house of cards.
