Very well done docs. I think the idea is clear of the big step the mediaportal dev comunity is doing.

Some questions more:
- are there already some specs on the streaming protocol?
- is IPTV supposed to be supported? via RTP/RTSP or something similar?

Do you guys test wlan performance? Can one expect reliable transmission of 10mbit DVB tv over such a link?
that strongly depends on YOUR Wireless lan connection quality.

I do not know the effective datarate of your Wlan connection and if you are suffering of interferences which will cause packed losses.

I have tested it in a 54 MBit Wlan environment at it workd like a charm with dvb PAL signals.

In this evolution of an already extraordinary program this newborn TV engine will be like going form dialup internet to broadband for me or even going form a Sony Megadrive to a Sony PS.

Thanks heaps in advances for all the hard work that is going into the new TV engine and I love you for it too ;) Developers and testers alike.

Any (good) news when it comes to handling STBs ("blaster")?

EDIT: Btw: Should the best gfx be inside server or client (ie. when using PureVideo to get best resault). My gess is obiously the client... but wan't to 100% (so I can plan (read: dream of) the future :D).

Firstly, I'm really looking forward to this release!

My big question, I guess, is if there's been any improvement in input delay with the new engine (specifically re: gaming consoles). Of course, it could just be my system, but it would still be fantastic to finally be able to use MP as my primary TV engine for everything.

And because it really can't be said enough, keep up the great work!

if you are using dedicated PC(s) as MedtaPortal TV Server (network configurations) you can even install a 3DFX Voodoo 3 if you want ;)

The "best" Videocard is well placed in the client which displayes the Video/TV.

Probably about connecting the (eg) sVideo-in on your TV-card with the sVideo-out on your Nintendo/Xbox/anyuthing else and play on the console with the screenoutput as a external TV channel in mediaportal. I've seen some posts in the forums that a consistent lagging (which is of course no real problem when watching TV) tends to limit playability somewhat. (If the AI shoots you in your face before you actually see the ugly monster for the dozenth time, I can more or less understand I suppose. ;))

@DJ Bitterbarn, just to make sure you didn't miss this one: I think I remembered turning timeshifting off helps somewhat.
