Does the TV server support external tuner plugins? Last time I looked it didn't. Thanks.

primary objective is to get it working with the MediaPortal Client.
other fancy features will be added after everything is stable ;)

What sort of specs would be needed for a server machine serving 2 clients?
i can tell you the other way around.

    i am using an Athlon64 3500+ | onboard gfx | 1024MB DDR PC3200 | as Server with
    1x Nova-T
    1x Skystar 2
    1x floppy-dtv

    With latest build:
If all 3 cards are recording at the same time the CPU load is below 20%.
If one client is connected its ~10%

But, other tasks are running on this server too. ftp, web, sql, ect.

A dedicated TV-server does not require a powerful CPU or gfx card. only a huge harddisk to store all your recordings ;)

I'm assuming there will be some new plugin type (eg. Server plugins?) that will allow us to make external channel changing plugins and the like.

Is there any info on this sort of thing? (Server plugins?)

    not at the moment. no.

First of all, thanks a lot for the update.

As for the tuner question, I understand that theres a lot of people using external STBs. Since it's not in the works atm, I just would like to know if the two engines (old and new) will be able to co-exist for while so these users (myself included) can continue tu use the software once the new engine comes out. Understand that theres a lot of thinks changing now so it might be hard to answer.

As for the CPU question, my server is a Celeron 2.66Ghz and hardly comes over 10% of CPU when streaming to one client (haven't tested 2 yet). It's amazing.

    Keep up the good work.

I wouldn't worry Julio, with the demand for external channel changing so high there is sure to be a solution developed soon.

Thanks for the update. Would it a good idea for us, to download Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express Edition now. And if so do we just need Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express Edition sp1, or do we also need SQL Server 2005 Express Edition with Advanced Services SP1 and the additional services pack.
