slow scanning files

well i had this problem and took ages for tv-seris and would have been the same for movies and figured out the problem
anyway i replaced the mediainfo.dll with a older version of the file and back up to speed
fford if you look what version you are running in fast mode maybe recommend they get that version as some of the really new ones scan files really slow (one every 30 secs) where the older ones only take .7-1 sec a movie/music track
i presume your using this anyway
thanks

No, not using mediainfo.dll at this point. We will be in the future, but not yet.

What are the access right and NTFS permissions on that folder?

Also when you browse to Z: from your HTPC do you see the movies in their subfolders or do you have Z:\Movies and then movies in subfolders?

Can you post your full log file as an attachment on the issue you created over on the tracker?

I dont believe this is the main problem but can you try creating another folder Movies2 on your Fileserver then copy directly in there a couple of movies.
After that share that folder Movies2 as Movies2 and try and map that shared folder.
from your HTPC do net use m: \\fileservername\Movies2

so basically when you click on m: you should see the list of your movies in folders.

This is a long shot but you dont have anything to loose to give it a try.

I have full admin privileges to my servers hard drives.

in mp config under movies i just have the root drive Z:/ selected. within mp this shows up as movies, as is named in config

@ fforde

i'm sorry about the mess of my log, it seems to have picked up the move i made to M:/ and ticking/ unticking the removeable box.

what if you try to scan a movie from your HTPC?

Did you try that? if not give it a try and if it fails then it means the problem is somewhere with your HTPC setup and your network drives.

Well we will investigate. To you two having the issues, if you can think of any other relevent information, post it over in the thread for the issue. If you can browse to the folder and see the files, but the importer fails then there is something wrong with the plug-in. It probably has to do with your system configuration, but Moving Pictures should account for that. If you two have the issue stared, you will receive email updates as progress is made.
