Here's another bit of randomness for consideration.

The main problem with this one IMO is that the text gets very small if the logo is any smaller.
Perhaps you could try to position the text a little bit differently, maybe both words on separate lines? partially overlapping or something?

... and make the bow more look like a filmstrip.

I think that the "symbol" for the logo should not have text on it. It should work for itself. This way, you can choose what to use. Need a small square button? Use the symbol. Need a banner (or something else of rectangular size), use the symbol + text. I think you should really use the Pico font, since that's what MediaPortal uses in case you did not know.

I'm happy to go with the pico font if this is what you guys think is right.
Things to think about;
1) If you go with the Pico font, this will make it very similar to Media Portal. Do we want the plugin to be that closely tied to the media portal logo?
2) Agree with the above post re: a non text version. The above was really only an example, but what the final outcome needs to be is an icon that works with and without text, at different sizes. I'll work on this aspect once we've a) finalised the actual icon shape (inside the box) and b) decided on font / text stuff.
It's pretty hard to tweak and play with icon sizes without having finalised the above first.

I am fine with a possible version of a logo using the Pico font, but I don't think I'd want it as a core feature of a design. More than anything I want something that feels unique, and borrowing the font from the MediaPortal logo, while appropriate i think, gives me a feeling of "and us too!" Maybe I am over-thinking it. I don't want to say it has to be one way or the other because I don't want to limit creativity. But like I have said, uniqueness is important.
