I'm having a minor issue with Daemon Tools and playback of ISOs. I haven't tested this with the standard movie plugin in MP and I've been away from MP for so long that I'm not sure if this is just how it works (I don't think it is).
Anyway, what happens is this: I go to a movie, click to play it and things pause for a sec (as the ISO mounts) then nothing happens. I click again (now that the ISO is mounted) and the movie plays. Basically I have to click once to mount and again to play the file. I don't have the option to ask before mounting checked under the Daemon Tools setup, but even when I did, the behavior didn't change (and it didn't ask me if I wanted to mount the file or not).

Hrmm. Well the reason is because normally when a disk is mounted by Daemon Tools, MediaPortal interprets this as a DVD inserted into a drive. The default behavior of MediaPortal is to prompt and then auto play DVDs when they have been inserted. So currently when Moving Pictures detects an ISO, it mounts the disk then assumes autoplay will take over. The second time through it triggers playback itself because there is no autoplay to take care of the job. To work around this you'd have to change your DVD autoplay settings in the MediaPortal config. I have created an issue on the tracker though. Moving Pictures should intelligently handle this situation, so we will try to get it taken care of before long.
I had the problem that when I chose an ISO file it would, after a few seconds, start vlc and play it there instead of in MP. I changed the file Association for the VOB files from VLC to MP and that solved it for me, think your problem is similar.

Actually, I just tested this with the normal My Videos plugin and it works fine. I turned autoplay on and MyVideos works fine. Mounts and launches Zoom Player. MovingPicture still behaves the same. It takes to clicks to launch ZP. I haven't tried the internal player to see if that makes any difference.
ETA: It works the same when I use the the internal MP player. Also, DVD ISOs seem to ignore the settings under DVD in the MP config... which makes sense considering that you add the ISO extension under Movies.

Is there current or planned support for HD-DVD and Blu-Ray movies in this plugin?
I've seen mention of HD, but usually in reference to a scene release avi file, not from the disk. I've ripped movies to HDD as structure as opposed to being ISO files or having just the main movie reencoded to a single file.
I have the HD Player plugin working in MP, so I can get CyberDVD to open and work with MediaPlayer keyboard shortucts, but to open a file on disk requires navigating a standard windows explorer tree, which at 1080i, which is really a 540p CRT rear projection, it is unreadable. I also have them spread across multiple disks, and in different folders, so even if the explorer tree could be seen, not exactly a clean solution.
After looking on the internet, it seems the best that can be done to open HD-DVD and Blu-Ray movies on HDD as structure in PowerDVD is for HD-DVD to open the VPLST000.XPL in ADV_OBJ folder (most, though not all discs have this file) which allows full menus, and for Blu-Ray to open the largest .m2ts file which is typically the movie - no menus or other features is available for Blu-Ray doing it this way. The alternative for Blu-Ray is to have ISO files and load them as a virtual disc, this allows all menus.
Unfortunately I cannot even get Moving Pictures to scan and detect Blu-Ray movies, and HD-DVD movies are just a .dat file, and I have to manually search for title of each one. Even if support for easily opening the movies into CyberDVD wasn't implemented, it would still be nice to have the movies listed with covers and descriptions and such, and a notice that it is an HD movie, and won't open automatically. Making the file location easily visible would be a nice touch so that it's easily located manually in PowerDVD's 'open movie file on hard disk drive'
Also, unrelated, it would be nice if the skin design was such that no key features, images, or text is in the lower left corner as it is covered up by any currently playing video that's been shrunk.

mkrfctr: Did you try adding .dat to the video formats list in MP before trying to scan them with Moving Pictures? I don't have ripped HD/Blueray content myself so I can't really test this.

I guess the important point is make sure that, whenever you are making changes to your settings, you have only one system online. Let me know how things go. And Good luck!
Hi John, again in regards to the multi-seat, I have the following setup:
Client1/Server
Client2
Client3
Everything is working fine in all three clients using centralised database/thumbs and unc paths for import folders, but I think we should have an option to disable the auto update/scan for watch folders, so we can disable it in all clients but one. I'm saying that because sometimes I noticed when I shut MediaPortal clients down to do a database update, the process stays running and I have to terminate the process manually or shut the pc completely to be safe. Also It will save us from asking family members to shutdown their computers until I perform the update.
Similar option (not in function, but in design only) exists for Mediaportal called Startup Delay, in my case this option is enabled in Client1 but disabled in Client2 and 3.

Well that is not quite as easy as it sounds since all three versions of the plug-in are using the same database. I will see what I can do though, I have an idea of how I might be able to pull it off.
You guys are going to have to write a guide for all this on the wiki once I finally get it up and running.
As for the long shut down problem, that is a known issue that has been corrected and will be included in the next release. That is due to a bug with the way the background art scanner is implemented.
