MP 1.16 TO 2.1 (1 Viewer)

As I understand 2.1 is also using 1.16 TV server. In that case can I install 2.1 together with 1.16 on the same machine both TV server and Client?

I want to play with 2.1 but because of not TeleText subtitle on Live TV I will have to wait.

Yes, you can. But: You can't use both MP1 and MP2.1 simultaneously.

• You must stop the MP1 TVServer Windows service process before installing MP 2.1
• Ideally you should deactivate the MP1 service while using MP 2.1

If you want to use MP1 again, stop and deactivate the MP2 Server Windows service, restart the MP1 TVServer service and you are back to where you were before installing MP 2.1. By the way, you may export your complete MP1 TVServer information (i.e. channels, etc) frin within the MP1 TV configuration before stopping the service and then reimport the export file into the MP2 TV configuration to copy your channel and schedule info from one to the other system.

Thanks, so the MP1 TV server is not the same one in MP2? Even when I started the TV server configure in MP2 it said 1.16?

That's correct. While it's the same thing it is actually not the same. Both MP1 and MP2 use a different instance of the TV engine.

The TV Engine of MP1 is a "Stand Alone Server" while the TV Engine of MP2 is a plugin of the MP2 server. For this it uses the MP2 server database plugin while MP1 TV Server needs an full blown external MySQL (or MSSQL) server. Aside this both TV engines are identical.

On a client only system this did not work. Mainly because the MP1 client does some direct database accesses instead of doing all database related stuff via the TV server.
A very few people reported they got it working on single seat systems. But this needs fiddling a lot with config files and is not that easy to achieve. It needs an overwork of the MP1 TV client part to remove those direct database accesses for making MP1 work together with the MP2 Server (and with the future TV engine 3.5).
