As it says....MP Extensions won't open, and I've just gone to 1.18.0 Final.
Would logs help.....and if so, which 'level' (type?) of log should I post?

I had the same problem, turned out that Windows Defender detected a Trojan in the MP Extensions Manager code. I'm hoping it is a false positive because I allowed and restored it after which it worked. Check Windows Defender or whatever AV program you are using for this. Also see here for further info.

....still not working....here are logs. Attempted to run at 17.09 / 17.10 h.
You don't have Extensions plugin installed according to logs... Or you're talking about standalone application? It doesn't have logs.
In addition to what joecrow said I could suggest to check if plugins database is ok
All xml files from C:\ProgramData\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\Installer\V2 should be vievable in browsers.

Edalex....yes I was talking about the standalone application!
Not sure what I should be looking for in 'C:\ProgramData\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\Installer\V2 should be vievable in browsers'

    Be gentle with me!!! :)

I had the same problem. Windows defender found MPECore.dll as a trojan. I installed 1.18 pre and it was fine again. Waiting for a fix or a new "pre".

Problem can't occurred without any reason. You must be changed smth. Defender/Anti-virus is a good suggestion.
As for viewable files I talked about Known_Extensions.xml and InstalledExtensions.xml
BTW if something wrong with standalone application in your setup you could try its GUI version - Extensions plugin Extensions

I thought we recommend to add Mediaportal folder as exception to all your anti-virus software. MPECore.dll doesn't contain trojan unless you've downloaded MediaPortal from some unknowm sites. :cautious:

I always download from team-mediaportal.com which redirects to sourceforge. But nevermind that. I just reinstalled 1.18 final and now it seems fine.
    Thanks for your input.

4.5 is really old. I'm not sure 4.5.5 even is a version that actually existed. You should be able to install .NET Framework 4.8.0 on Windows 7 SP1

It's working after some hours search: the Auto3D plugin which I haven't used for years was corrupting the start of the TV live stream from server to MP. If anyone has a similar problem - disable all old plugins and then enable one after another :-)

I do not know why this xml was in my theme folders, it must have sneaked in some time ago (years?). I simply removed the file. The Latest Media Handler plugin seems to be working as expected. I've had no lock-ups.
