Hi All,
I post this new version ( 0.9 RC1)
here
Changelogs:
- add DVD Rip support (use mplayer to rip dvd)
- fix transcoding scheduler when you post task (scedule the job next day at good time)
- Fix ffmpeg 2 pass mode (the second pass is never call in previous version)
- add diffrent video container
- add quantizer setting for FFmpeg
- add crop settings for FFmpeg
- add 7 default profile for non expert ;-)
- update ffmpeg and mencoder binairies
- save first pass log file in 'transcode\logs'
- can specify one output folder by profile
- some ui fixes
- etc...
INSTALL:
Remove the previous folder transcode (with old profiles- they are not compatible and this version contains some standard profiles). Extract the version in MP root folder
Please report me some bug

WOW. This is really, really nice. It works perfectly and even updates the database when done. This is a must have for anyone that uses MediaPortal. Thank you, Fabrice.
I am having one small problem, though. When transcoding is finished and the original file is deleted the comskip file that goes with the recording is also being deleted. Is there any solution other than backing up the comskip files for each recording before transcoding occurs?

I have the issue that after an half hour of encoding, my MP seems to crash completely, eg not responding to CTRL+ALT+DEL even anymore, have to reboot my machine. Cant access the machine for logs right now as girlfriend is watching Big brother, but if it helps, will post Logs later.
What is most helpful for debugging, MP logs, or are there separate logs for the plugin?

Hi,
Yes the log can help to find the cause of problem (set the level DEBUG in MP configuration).
The problem with encoding it is to check the CPU activity because on small machine the CPU is over load ( 100% ) and after the PC doesn't respond. If you have time i propose to start MP in smal windows( not full screen) and execute the task manager to check the CPU activity , then launch a transcoding job.
If the CPU is 100% and nothing respond (or slowly) it is problably a performance problem (or a bug in binaries of FFMPEG or MENCODER ), may be it is good way to test FFMPEG and MENCODER to find the better process for your machine

I have a Athlon 3500+ with 1 gig of ram. I disabled the paging file. Does that sound like a low spec machine? Obviously when transcoding, the CPU will be at 100%, but I was still able to use MP normally without much lag or so on.
I used FFMPEG as that was the default, what is the difference between FFMPEG and MENCODER ?
I will try and give it another go tonight, and see if I can get the MP logs out.

Just completed my first recording/compression with the new 0.2.3.0 RC1 installation, worked like a charm although I think my quality settings are set too low, but thats my issue not the transcoders. great work Fabrice.
As to the CPU load, I schedule it to run in the middle of the night plus I am running a dual core, either way CPU load does not seem to be an issue on this machine.

Fantastic plugin. Really impressive work.
It does not recode .wmv files.Does it? I get a "failed" when I try to.
Something that would be nice to add to reduce configuration time.

Without losing the ability to apply individual configurations of course.
