Just resumed the PC: no crash. It took 2 seconds until the WorldWeather "no internet access" screen had disappeared

Strangely, MePo returned in BasicHome view and only after preessing ESC did I get the Titan tiles back.

I verified the event log and the issue tracker: I have a series of identical video hardware incidents (with memory dump, if somebody is interested) that start early July. This is about the time when I assembled the client, hence the problem has apparently always been there and most likely not related to MediaPortalMediaPortal. Not surprising that MePo stops functioning with the above mentioned DirectX problem.

The Basic Home issue is reproducible though. While one can never be sure, it loks as this was introduced with V5. As HomeY pointed out earlier, it is necessary to let the PC stay some time in S3 before resuming, which is making testing quite time-consuming.

    Hi,

After my bios downgrade(fixed hdmi audio and input device problems for me) and my reinstall of windows 8.1(x64) with mp 1.9 final and worldweather 1.6.2 my system seems to be rock stable. I didn't have any problem in the last 24 hours. Unfortunately I'm not using the freeze fix(v4 or v5) anymore since this doesn't fix anything for me just made the resume looking worse(desktop shows up after resume and sometimes d3d crashes).

    So for the record:
    mp 1.9 final + worldweather plugin 1.6.1 = crash
    mp 1.9 + unfreeze fix = crash
mp 1.9 + worldweather plugin 1.6.2(without unfreeze fix) = working

@Micropolis Maybe you can release this 1.6.2 version since it seems to really make a differnce for me.

I will keep testing and incase I have any problem I will report here. So to be clear I'm not using the unfreeze fix anymore.

Well, when i read your above post, i'm not so sure if the above is correct. :p
You state you downgraded your BIOS because that was giving you HDMI/Input Device issues, so maybe that was also the cause for the freezes after resume. HDMI (handshake) issues can definitely lead to that.

I'm really curious what happens when you install WorldWeather 1.6.1 on the 'fresh' system. I suspect it to work as it does now ;)

It is correct, since the above conclusion isn't based on the "old" system(old bios) but tests are all made after the reinstall with the new bios(after downgrade).

    1 downgraded the bios
2 reinstalled windows with mp 1.9 final and worldweather 1.6.1 = crash
    3 installed freeze fix v5 = crash
4 removed freeze fix(restored original mediaportal.exe) and upgraded worldweather to 1.6.2 = working fine for last 24 hours.

Testing was done in above order, so I think this can exclude all other causes right?

Another thing I still don't get, how can this bios downgrade has fixed the hdmi audio problem with my external(not onboard) nvidia gtx 970 card(I had the same audio problem with my gt 520 which I replaced with the gtx 970 and has worked before I upgraded the bios months/a year ago)

    Hi :)

Some good news, with an other good dev, the resume sequence was reworked, so i will link to a new installer to Jira and attach bin here :)
Even if for you @killer8 it is currently working, the current master has issue (maybe less trigered now) but if you can try and see if all is ok :)

    Thanks :)

What's the difference between installing the Mediaportal.exe and the whole build? I prefer to not install the whole build but can test Mediaportal.exe if needed.

To update on the issue, I didn't have any crash anymore since last report.

Full build is more needed when a lot of files need to be changed etc. and permit to test with an installer :)
But here the diff is only mp.exe so bin can be used and avoid replaced user files like skin etc.

OK after one week I can say that the new builds do definitely improve stability after standby and resume - although my crashes do most likely not represent the exact issues reported here.
