kosh - Have you thought about offering your help (that is of course if the current developers would like the help) to this remote control project? I'm sure you can contact them through PM. I think this would be great if we could get a full team working on this project!

Well, I am still using Meedio since I dont like MediaPortal much (I am just too used to Meedio after several years and various plugins), but maybe we could share experience in programming using .NET Compact Framework. I suppose we all have experienced similar problems. Atleast I have when developing a single executable for both PC and PDA, supporting landscape/portrait orientation, various resolutions and scaling. Also bluetooth/tcpip code.

What would be really ideal (although I lack the understanding to see if it's possible) is if a common plugin could be developed that could be adapted to either (or any) htpc. In other words, the base of the program would be universal, but there would meedio files or media portal files, or people could even make addons for sage or snapstream, that allow the plugin to work with that program.

Basically the difference would be incoming (databases) and outgoing commands, which hopefully can be discrete dll files whatever.

Anyway, outside of my competency, but it would be nice to have some cross platform ability since that adds to the expertiese of the product.

    News on RC4

I recomplied the Server under RC4 but I think it will also take a recomplie of the client using the new Web References the server generates, as for some reason the client 0.0.03 doesn't like the server under RC4. (play seems to work ok, I manage to do a call the web refernce from VS.)

I'll get onto this and should be able to post something soon.

Anyone know where I can upload to, as I have no websapce of my own :-(

    thanks

    Still here..

Flipit sent me some stuff in the past.. Flip, just send out the new compiled version, i will put it on my webspace..

on the other hand, I'm almost finished with the new client version.

the parsing and creating of elements has been completely rewritten to support more complex contrlos in the future..
progressbars, sliders, rating, listbox, cutom treeview (a long shot, treeview is rather complex..)

    Great! Looking forward.

Can you maybe help me out and tell me where the IP information on the client is stored. Replacing the installation files with the original doesn't reset everything to default. The client won't connect to the server. Altough everyhing is configured as it should.

I use bluetooth to connect to the MP. I can visit the MP Webinterface thrue this connection which obviously uses the same IP op port 81. But the client can connect.

    Bram,

the current version of MPBlue and the external control plugin do not work together..

I discussed this withe the developer of the ECP, and apparenly he is switching to another communication layer.

if you want to use the MPBlue plugin, disable the external control plugin.

as soon as sam finishes his ecp plugin, both can work together..
