Ok, installed rc4 and the cvs you indicated. Built a new music database under this. At first did not index songs to ID artist.

Controls worked, tried music database, artists, names came up in about 5 seconds, program locked. Tried a few times.

Created an index in the database (songs by idartist), started again. Controls still work, tried music database. First try, tried to expand genre, artist expanded and one sub folder. clicked an album (unknown), got error, nullreferenceexemption, let me know if you want what it says.

So try again, this time select a named album, songs get listed. I can play songs or albums. I can play artists with unknown albums but I have to select the artist name, if I select the word unknown I get the error. So, I cannot list individual songs with unknown albums but I can play them under artist, and it does not play all unknown albums. Alsi, open albums the first time and it reads artists and selects first artist, second artist first time selecting genre, after that everything fine, weird but not enough of an inconvenience to worry about.

Oh, no option using old music database, not readable by MP

Lastly, no id3 info is making it to the pda. Now Playing is empty except for the number 14 (no idea why). I think they changed the naming of these and we need to update them in the xml. Does anyone have a list of what new names are (if they are different) of artist, song, track number etc for current play, etc?

Another observation, under genre, it lists all songs, I can play a song or all in genre, but if I play one song, skip next just repeats song, and if I select the whole genre, I can't jump automatically to that song, doing s only plays that song, it loses its place. That would be a nice future detail, that and a shuffle which I still haven't figured out.

But no hurry, know you're busy and it is workable now (ok, maybe the Now Playing section needs fixing). If someone knows if its a simple naming change, I'll take care of the xml file, if its more than that then I'm out of my realm.

It's working well though, thanks.

As a backupplan (not that I do not trust the developers here...) I have NetRemote and/or remote desktop via RealVNC.

someone that is using netremote contacted me to port MPBlue to netremote..
I said no :) well not that specific, I said i really wanted to finish a more or less usable opensource MPBlue client.
before venturing into the world of netremote..

I gave permission to use the source.. he was going to attempt to write a MediaBridge plugin himself.

I just tried updating my desktop to the latest svn - but still getting the same results. music library just sits their thinking forever, and hitting a control crashes the client :(

are you sure that MPBlue.dll is in both the Mediaportal root folder and in the plugin/process folder?

try the following:
start MP
start a browser
type http://machinename:9000/MPMusic.soap?wsdl

you should get a nice XML document in your browser. if not, the the plugin is either not starting, or port 9000 is in use by something else, try a different port.

You're not using one of those slimserver thingies are You, they are also using port 9000.. as is the checkpoint VPN client

Maybe you could post what components your plugin is depending on. So other developers can inform you when changes are being made that might influence your work.

Bram,

the biggest problem is actually me not spending enough time keeping it up to date..

I did'nt touch the server for over two months, and now I'm in a bit of trouble..
as soon as a new RC is released (or 0.0.2 final) I can catch up again..

wooohoooooooo it's working :D i'm not sure what happened when i tried it this afternoon, but just tried again and it's populating the library and all the controls are working!! (i'm on a different network here... i'm gonna try again tomorrow to see what's wrong with that other network - it's gotta be a random firewall issue i think).

issues i've found so far are that the 'now playing' screen is blank, and that the play and pause buttons on the media library screen only work occasionally (but on controls screen they work all the time). but these are so minor compared to the awesome luxury of controlling mp from my phone! :D:D:D

btw - mpblue got a mention in PC User magazine this month. they were doing a short feature on cool things you can do on a pda, and they listed using mpblue to control media portal in it! (they also said it was heavily under development :p)

great news!

yeah, I don't handle network errors (or errors in general) that well.. first functionality, then error handling.. was my initial thought... best practices indicate otherwise..

are you kidding! I have never had a program being mentioned in a magazine before 8) .. I have never written a program for that matter ..
would it be possible to scan it and send it to me??
