AW: MPDisplay2 - MP Secondary Display

Not in 0.7.0.0. We have it on the screen for 0.8.0.0 (Reason is, that nobody of us is using 4TR...)

    EDIT:
here a small Video how the Backdrop Skin is looking. As you can partly see, the Resizing Issue is still not fixed (Take a look at the video screens / the logos). After bugfixing the new Version will be released.

    Cheers,
    Richy

    Hi Wondermusic,

I understand.. For me 4TR is much more stable than MP's TV-server, so I hope it's supported soon.. Nice video BTW.. Looking very proffesional.. :)

Any news about the release date? After that I will help you 9as far as I can) with a StreamedMP skin.. :)

    Hello Everyone,

It has indeed been a while since I have been on the MPDisplay2 forum, but this does not mean I have not been working hard to develop MPDisplay. Over the last year my home town has been hammered by many significant earthquake's resulting in a loss of several development machines and source code :( this slowed down MPDisplay's release schedule.

I would like to once again extend my gratitude on behalf of me and my family for all the wonderful donations provided by MPDisplay users to rebuild my development environment (it meant a lot :) ) .

I would like everyone to welcome "gdl" and "Unople" to Team MPD, gdl & Unople have been working with me in code development, and wondermusic has been busy designing some fantastic skins for MPDisplay.

It has been almost 3 years of development for MPDisplay, and it has come a long way from the original "LCD/Touch Plugin". There has been many major design changes over the last few years to accommodate everyone's features and requests. Now we believe we have a stable design that is easily extendible than previous versions.

The significant changes in MPDisplay is the inclusion of a full WCF server/client API, this gives us the ability to pull Mediaportal information with minimal effect on Mediaportal, It also adds a new range of features, such as LAN and Internet support, you no longer need a second screen attached to your HTPC. You can run MPDisplay form any other PC attached to you network or over the internet and control MP from anywhere. This also prompted a new name for the plugin, since we can use MPDisplay from any screen not just your secondary, and having the ability to have up to 100 MPDisplay UI's connected to your HTPC MPDisplay2 does not fit anymore, So I would like to welcome you all to the world of "MPDisplay++".

We have tried hard to get as many bugs sorted for this Alpha release, and testing went very Well. However this is a complete redesign of the previous versions so there maybe new issues that arise, but I'm sure you will let us know.

Team MPD would like to thank all users/testers from the previous versions, without this bug testing/reporting we would not be where we are today. Also Team MPD is looking any web developers to join the team to create the MPDisplay++ web GUI, If anyone is interested and has the time please let one of us know.

One again thank you to you all in this crazy action packed journey to get this plugin where it is.

    Peace, Sa_ddam213

    AW: MPDisplay++ - Extended Display/Touchscreen Plugin

    Hey adam.

First thanks for you and your team for the new release!!!

I have tried the new version, it looks very professional ;-)

    And now the issues *gg*

MPD++ does not start with MP. i must start it manually. is there an option for automatic starting (with MP).

Also with the old MPD2 i had the problem that if my secondary screen (where MPD is on) is switched on later then the HTPC, MPD++ will be shown on the main screen behind MP. Have tried also Custom position, which doesnt work for me. MPD++ isnt shown is this case.

In the past i have written a little autoit script which checks or set the position if MPD++.

    Could you confirm this behaviour?

    Thx pOpY

    Hello guys!!

First of all: Thanks a lot for this great plugin.. it is greatly appreciated that you guys have spent so much time and energy to this to make this plugin finally working..

I know It's still an alpha version, so issues don't matter at this stage.. :)

I want to report some things: (I have spent an half hour to this, so I think I will report more things soon)

-The "Hide mouse cursor" doesn't work.. I still see the mouse cursor at the second screen when I press on it.
-The interface is still a bit choppy.. I have tried with the priority settings, but this doesn't help.. When I set the priority to high, I get strange messanges in movingpictures by example.. I think he is not able to get entree to the database anymore, so I set that priority at lowest like default.

    Hi!

Thanks for the new version. :D

    Here are the first experiences:

When installing the plugin and Framework 4.0 is not installed the Setup installs is automatically, but says after "The MPDisplay ++ Setup can't be processed, because Framework 4.0 is not installed." When starting the setup again it works.

When starting the plugin config inside the MP config, the path to the "MPDisplay++.exe" is set to the standard Windows 7 (x64 version) directory. On XP, it's needed to change to the right one. I don't know, if this is an issue, because the Path is highlighted with red background to show the path is wrong.

At the beginning I can't use the GUI, because the display I choose in the config isn't saved. I choose "Display 2" and press "Save". When I open the config again, the Dispay field is empty. Of cause, when I try to start the GUI it shows my an exception. Other setting changes are saved. When I edit the GUISettings.xml manually I can see the reason for that issue. The Config doesn't save "\\.\Display2" as value, but saves "\\.\DISPLAY2??????￿???". After changing to "\\.\Display2" the GUI starts as expected.

I'm now testing the new version - for the moment: Really cool! Thanks a lot for it guys!!!!

    Cheers,
    Neelex

    Hi popy,

MPDisplay GUI should be starting automaticly, try checking the path is correct in the MPDisplay++ config under "Local MPDisplay Path".

If you are using Vista/Win7 you may need to run MP as administrator, This is due to needing "ServiceController" support.

If you could post your logs I can have a look(X:\ProgramData\MPDisplay++\Logs)

    Hi Neelex,

Ahhh. I remember that windows bug :). I will fix ASAP.

We never tested the installer on XP because the museum was closed :)

Will have a look after work today.

    Hi Powermarcel10,

I can confirm the mosue hide issue and will add to Mantis.

I would not recomomend setting MPDisplay++ priority higher than MP, I will cause problems.
The interface will get smother in time, Alpha release is just basic functionality :)

    Hi sa_ddam213,

don't mind about the path, no problem to change it! :D For the moment XP works fine for the main system. To be honest, I wanted to setup a complete new system based on WHS 2011 / Win 7 at the end of the last year, but the HDD prices are really a show stopper at the moment ;)

    Cheers,
