It doesnt look like this is implemented yet. Could this feature be expected anywhere soon?

I mean, like downloading several backdrops and rotating them with a few seconds interval when a movie is selected.

Priority is high but it has not been scheduled for any release yet. This information is all from the Google code website. You can login and get updated by email on progress as well as vote for features. You can also donate and maybe even comment that you donated in the hope that this feature will be released soon

I think there are a lot of other more important features like scraping issues, movie grouping, trailers, duplicate movie names and covers.

IMHO MovingPictures development is quite dead. This feature is going back for years. There are just a few bug fixes now and then...

I recommed checking out MyFilms. I abandoned MovingPictures are few months ago as nothing is happening anymore and it fell behind the competition.

While development is certainly running at a crawl, I still think it is a great plugin for movies, it is really user friendly and the remote control filtering is an amazing feature that I could never live without
