First, I'd like to say thank you for the amazing plugin. I downloaded mediaportal/myanime 2 a couple of days ago and I'm really enjoying it, it's an amazing program.

I do however have a question.

Is there a way to manually add fanart to a series?

The Issue: I have a file, Hotaru no Haka (Grave of the Fireflies). The file has an anidb association (so info/poster is downloaded) but it doesn't have a tvdb association, so fanart isn't downloaded for the file.

Is there a way I can go out, download a picture and manually add it as fanart for the file to be displayed as the background?

Thanks for the help,

Ruk ^,^

No adding fanart manually is not supported. It should be tho, so it's going in as a feature request :). Thanks for the idea ruktium.

Note: Since grave of the fireflies is a movie, it needs to use themoviedb database rather then the tvdb database.
Searching for "Hotaru no haka" using the themoviedb database should find the right assoication for it.

Instructions:
1. Bring up the menu(f9) when hovering over the anime
2. Select databases->Search movieDB->manual search
3. Put "Hotaru no haka" in the on-screen-keyboard, then press enter.
4. Select the only result, (it's in japanese).
5. Done, enjoy.

Thanks for the reply, it's funny, right after I posted a couple of days ago, I did exactly what you suggested, found the result (in japanese) and it worked! ^,^

Ya, manually adding fanart is great. :)

You can kind of manually add fanart in a round about way.

What you do is:

1: Setup a tvdb account

2: Search for the show you want to have fanart for. (For this example we will use: Kazemakase Tsukikage Ran)

3: Scroll down to "Fanart" click show/hide upload

4: Browse for the file your want to add. (Make sure it matches the fanart rules: Fan Art - TvDBwiki )

5: Hit Upload (Wait for about 10 minutes before you search for it on Myanime 2. After about 10 mins it will now be avalable to be downloaded as fanart for Myanime 2)

It would be really great if you could do a full manual add, series info, eps info, banner, poster, fanart. It would allow people to add shows/movies that might not appear on tvdb/anidb.

However, fan art alone would be a huge plus, you could add pictures that might not fall into the tvdb rules.

Yeah adding images manually is a great idea.

I should point out that the "round about way" is the proper way to add images. By submiting the images to the databases that My Anime use, your helping My Anime and it's users, other programs who use those databases, including ones not from mediaportal, and the movie and tv community as a whole.

I'm going to nick your instuctions and put them in with our growing collection of documentation. This kind of information should be there for all My Anime users to easily find, to help them and everyone else.

I thank you.

Small question: can torrent downloads run on a remote computer? I have my uTorrent client on a remote computer (active downloads can be monitored via the plugin and testing the connection via the config applet works ok) but when I use the "Download via uTorrent" option, nothing happens on the remote PC.

They should be able to run on a remote computer. The download system was made with that in mind. That said, I asked a couple users to test it and they all say it doesnt work. It looks like somewere along the line it has broke. I'll put an issue in about it.

Is this project still alive ...?

I was wondering - as this project had a rather high activity in the past it has become very very quit now. Except Craig there is not much response any more and when looking at the Google codepage the activity also has decreased dramatically.

As I understand there were a lot of open points and bugfixes outstanding. Also I don't understand why there are attempts to put the whole project to a different host (discussion forum) instead leaving it at at team mediaportal - it's a mediaportalplugin after all. I see a lot of effort putted in the new forum but - sorry - splitting the base is useless. Even if the alternate forum is much more beautifull I don't see any benefit in having two of them. And removing it from team mediaportal is not going to work (ok - this is my opinion).

So - the simple question is - is this project still alive - and where - and who is participating?

    Regards
