Is this still an issue with 2.4.0.11? I had read the change log to mean that the "Update AniDB Data on version change" could remain checked but now I have tons and tons of entries listed with zero files in them. I tried using the remove db entries for files that dont exist option, didn't seem to make a difference. I tried turning off the Update AniDB option and running an import, didn't seem to help either.

Am I going to need to start a new database? And, if so, is there an easy way to back up the current db and replace it with an empty one?

This is the first real issue I've had with My Anime since I started using it ~six months ago.

Did you initially grab the 2.4.0.10 release?
Or did you go straight from 2.3 to 2.4.0.11?

Hello,
firstly I want to thank everyone who worked on this plug-in, cause it's really great :D

Secondly I have some questions :
- I'm planning to move my animes to another hard drive, so their paths will change. Is their a way to avoid a re-import, as I don't want to make a long scan and I don't want to loose any status (like watched, etc...) ? Maybe is it possible to make a query in the DB to change all these paths ?
- I didn't see any personal score for my animes, do the scoring popup comes when I finish one anime ? Is there a way to see our score in the list ?
- Do you need some developers for this project ? I have 12 years exp as J2EE dev/projectLeader, but working on C# doesn't seem to be a problem and I could help you if you need some (I thought on a MyAnimeList integration, or at least an integration with the MAL updater application). I could even help you for some translations, as I'm French ;).

I went straight from 2.3 to 2.4.0.11.
I went ahead and created an empty text file and set a custom database location to point at the empty file. Before I hit the hay I started a full import so there should be a new database to look at when I get a chance after work today. I'll let you know for sure how that goes.

I did notice another oddity - Audio and Subtitle language preference doesn't seem to be sticking. Every time I go into the MA2 configuration both are set to file default. From time to time I'll run into a release that has the default audio set to English instead of Japanese and I'd prefer to always have the default be Japanese audio with English subs but that configuration doesn't appear to be saved when viewing the MA2 config. I haven't tested any "bad" files to see if the settings are actually saved or looked through the configuration file yet.

I feel bad bringing this stuff up - the app is light years beyond anything else I've tried (Boxee, XBMC, Windows Media Center, Media Browser, MyMovies, YAMM, MetaBrowser, countless UPnP services, etc). I consider even doing a full re-scan of the database as a minor issue compared to the amount of work that would be required to scan, identify, and import metadata on a similar number of Movies or TV Shows. I know you're standing on the shoulders of giants with anidb and the release groups providing hashes for all files but it's still an awesome app. Love the skin support - StreamedMP was an easy step over from XBMC.

Can't believe it took me so long to find it and try it out.

My first thought was that the plugin should handle it, but I tested it to make sure (and found a couple of issues)
- It will try and hash all the files again, but if you have the web cache on this should be pretty quick
- It will try and add the files to your AniDB list again (this can be turned off in the options)
I will raise issues for both of these

But none of the watched status are lost. And you don't need to download any AniDB info again.
You will lose video resume information either way though ie you lose the resume positions for partially watched videos, since this is handled by MP itself.

If you want to update the database yourself that is possible. It should be pretty easy. Alternatively you can send me your DB and I will do it myself.

It might be time to add a utility to help with this.

We don't have an issue for popup ratings on an anime yet. We have Issue #132 for episodes though.
You can vote manually by going to the "Series Information" window.
Once you have vote, your rating should show in both the Series Information window and in the group list view alongside the overall AniDB rating (in yellow text on Monochrome skin)
You can also download any previous votes from the Utilities window - More Options

We always need more developers, as we are all fairly casual.
I've looked at MAL integration before, as it has some info that I would have liked to use, but the API is bit bare bones. I'll PM you and we can discuss some more.

Ok let me know how it goes. In the mean time I'll look at adding something to clean out empty groups/series.

Hmm we did have an issue for this but I can't find it. We'll have to open up again.

Thanks. The re scan looks like it took care of things but I do have the option to rescan on version change disabled (call me a chicken :p). So I could try again with it turned on and see what happens.

Glad it isn't just me :)
Thanks for your help!

lwerndly:

Thanks for your answers.
For my animes moves, I've just tested to firstly change the anime path in the plugin configuration and then update the files paths in DB like this:
Code:
update FileLocal
set FileNameFull = replace(FileNameFull,'K:','L:')
(I don't think there is another table concerned by the local paths)

Everything seems OK.

PS: I respond here to help other people for this point, but I'll continue through MP for the dev question ;)

    Re: Feature Suggestion

    Hi Iwerndly,

Is it possible to establish configurable filter presets in the right side hidden menu in one of the future releases?
This would (at least for me) shorten up the selection of preferred filters (e.g. in my case "All", "2010", "2009") which are currently several layers away.

    Also one other question:
I observe for quite some time that ratings for newer series are given between 0 and 1000 and not in figures between 0 to 10.
    Is this a bug?

    Cheers & thanks,

I gather you are doing the following now in the hidden menu
    Display Options -> Switch View -> 2010

Are you suggesting to have something like the following in the hidden menu (like mp-tvseries)
    Switch View -> 2010
My personal preference would be even to have some fields even one level higher:

    2010
    2009
    all
    ----------------
    Display Options
    :
    :

Maybe having 3..4 fields which can be freely defined with submenu entries from the lower tiers as favorits.
This would create some flexibilities if soimebody would want here some other entries (eg. "Images"; AniDB Update or else)
I presume all Menu entries are Menu Parameters?

Yes the other one is a bug, I'll take a look.

    Thanks

    Cheers,

I think the new version of the plugin broke the non-farnart layout for the StreamedMP skin.

Please see the screenshot attached below. Note the text close to the middle of the screen, where the anime title and tags would normally be on the non-fanart layout. Also, some text overlap in the synopsis area.
