My Anime 2 (2 Viewers)

Hi devs, I'm getting the following error message for one of my series. When I access this series in MediaPortal, MP freezes for about 1 or 2 minutes. It only happens to this particular one; all the other series load just fine, almost instantaneously. Any idea what could be causing it?

Note: I wrapped some of the really long lines.

From a quick look at the logfile you're either missing the "ICSharpCode.SharpZipLib.dll" file, or it's the wrong version (I have version 0.85.5.452). I believe some people had the same problem before ...
I'm not sure if that could cause login problems though.

Looks like that was the issue - for whatever reason the Alpha client of MP doesn't include (or it didn't install under Win7 properly) that ICSharpCode .dll. When installing a new OS I keep an image of my previous for cases like this, so I went in and grabbed the DLL from my old Vista build and put it in the new one. Wouldn't you know it, it works!

Retrieving the media info (codec, play time, ...) failed for these files. I think this might be caused by codec problems.
Can you play this file in media player, and/or in the regular video player in MediaPortal?

I can play the files just fine with anything, even via the Anime 2 plugin. The only issue is that when I select this series, it takes a couple of minutes to load, whereas all the other series load almost instantly. After about 2 minutes of waiting, the list of episodes loads and I can play it as normal.

Hey all,

First off...this plug-in rocks thanks so much for the hard work. I used this plug-in a while ago on my HTPC (at the time XP SP2) but lost the PC due to hardware failure. I recently got a new box and a fresh install of Windows 7 (I know it's unsupported but works better than Vista). I installed Media Portal 1.1 Alpha with the 08-02-2009 SVN weekly build and SFA v3.47 for MKV h264 playback using the GPU. All works great and it was time to throw in My Anime 2 into the mix.

Basically, I have the plug-in installed, had to rip out the ICSharpCode.SharpZipLib.dll from an older installer as detailed by an earlier post and put it in the MediaPortal directory for connectivity, but I'm still getting nowhere with pulling down details or even being able to view anime via the plug-in. For the import, I disabled the web service as outlined in previous posts and the hash collection completed. Now when I run an Import from the Utilities window, it shows a bunch of Queues in ANIDB QUEUE but the jumps to 0 and displays "OTHER:LoginFailed:"

Hey all,

First off...this plug-in rocks thanks so much for the hard work. I used this plug-in a while ago on my HTPC (at the time XP SP2) but lost the PC due to hardware failure. I recently got a new box and a fresh install of Windows 7 (I know it's unsupported but works better than Vista). I installed Media Portal 1.1 Alpha with the 08-02-2009 SVN weekly build and SFA v3.47 for MKV h264 playback using the GPU. All works great and it was time to throw in My Anime 2 into the mix.

Basically, I have the plug-in installed, had to rip out the ICSharpCode.SharpZipLib.dll from an older installer as detailed by an earlier post and put it in the MediaPortal directory for connectivity, but I'm still getting nowhere with pulling down details or even being able to view anime via the plug-in. For the import, I disabled the web service as outlined in previous posts and the hash collection completed. Now when I run an Import from the Utilities window, it shows a bunch of Queues in ANIDB QUEUE but the jumps to 0 and displays "OTHER:LoginFailed:"

Could you post both the Anime2.log and MediaPortal.Log? I can't see much in the snippet, but maybe something else happened before that. The reason I want the MediaPortal.log is that the Anime2.log doesn't catch every error.

I have no idea if the plugin works in either Windows 7 or MediaPortal 1.1 alpha ... but if you can get this much working it might just work fine, and this could be caused by something else.

I can play the files just fine with anything, even via the Anime 2 plugin. The only issue is that when I select this series, it takes a couple of minutes to load, whereas all the other series load almost instantly. After about 2 minutes of waiting, the list of episodes loads and I can play it as normal.

There's clearly a problem when reading the media info for this series. I expect the play time and codec won't be filled in for these episodes. Maybe only the mediainfo dll has problems with this specific encoding (I see it's a blue ray encode)? I'll download it and see what I can find.

Is it possible to unhardcode them? I mean, the small font for the airdate and the placement of the icons in the listcontrol are not like anything in MediaStream. I'm using the previous skin files now which now only show numbers in the listcontrol for groups with the number of (un)watched episodes, also not handled by labels, correct?

Yes it is, but it will take a bit of work.
I will add an issue for this.

Hi devs, I'm getting the following error message for one of my series. When I access this series in MediaPortal, MP freezes for about 1 or 2 minutes. It only happens to this particular one; all the other series load just fine, almost instantaneously. Any idea what could be causing it?

As bert_r mentioned this is a problem with the MediaInfo.dll.
No-one else had mentioned it so I thought I was the only person having the problem.
I get it with a few episodes of the original Hajime no Ippo as well as Sengoku Basara.
The episodes play fine in MPC for me.
For now I will probably create an option to not use this DLL, and just use the AniDB info (until a proper solution can be found)


I'll also have a look at the Window 7 problems along with bert_r.
Just installed it on one of my machines, so should be able to find the issue

I can confirm the newer 0.7.20 version on the MediaInfo website solves the problem with blue-ray files. I've downloaded the problematic Code Geass file and could simulate the problem.
